    wanderlust's Interests
GeneralSecret spots, exploring, splurging on a good dinner, rollerblading, traveling, Waffle House, geochaching, spending Sunday mornings reading the paper and drinking coffee, novelty, teardrop trailers, Planet Bluegrass, bowling, sit-upon kayaks, snowy nights with a fire going, First Friday, hats, backgammon, rosemary, doing something special on the full moon, farmer’s markets, accidentally finding a great band, nibbling, happy hour, maps, picnics, sunrise, Film on the Rocks, Blue Sky Basin on a powder day midweek, blueberries, my dog's happy sound, marble sculpture, a gentle touch, the smell of wet dirt, reference books, live comedy, the view as you pass Genesee on 70 west, snowshoeing, staring at the campfire, NPOs, Social Capital, Sunday Jazz in the Park, skiing, camping, hiking, bookstores, and having friends over for dinner. I don't like: bottom-feeders, malls, (anything)Fest, instant messaging, being tickled, that goo on the ketchup bottle, being woken up, humidity, people who chatter loudly/incessantly instead of listening to the artist on stage, fluorescent lights, wastefulness.
MusicBooty-shakin' music, happy music, Sunday morning music, driving music, acoustic music, workin' in the yard music; melodic, uplifting, thoughtful music, and 'most anything that includes a mandolin, fiddle or banjo.
MoviesCoen Brothers, any and all. Moulin Rouge. A few others. I don't watch a lot of movies, rarely see them in theaters, and I've patronized my last mega-plex. I think I'm too ADD to watch movies, I start thinking about groceries. Look, a shiny nickle!
TelevisionLike everyone else, I'm above watching TV. Just kidding. I just don't have cable though, so The Simpsons, Family guy, sometimes cooking shows. I sometimes watch City Council meetings on channel 8. Honestly I think TV is mostly harmless because everyone knows it's stupid for the most part. It freaks my freak, though, that people actually read the newspaper for "news", and even more alarming, 'blogs.
BooksI used to read all the time purely for enjoyment. Now, I read mostly to learn how to do or fix something. When I bring a book on vacation, it's mostly contemporary fiction: T.C. Boyle, Jane Hamilton, Joyce Carol Oates, Jane Smiley. Always working on my house and garden, so fix-it and how-to books of all sorts are stacked about the place with many pages marked.

About me:
Here's my deal: I'm right-brained, left-leaning, and a bit of a bohemian. I have no sense of direction and get lost regularly - It takes you to the most interesting places sometimes. I have a love-hate relationship with my yard, but mostly love. I'm very practical by nature and in fact. I'm interested in the essential. I thrive on experiencing new places and things, but I'm also kind of a homebody. I'm an optimistic cynic. I love my pets but I don't treat them like children. I don't usually wear makeup, but I clean up pretty well. I'm way too hard on myself. I'm a really social loner. I'm a work in progress. I think cooperation is a good thing. I enjoy helping people. I believe that what goes around comes around. I finally figured out who I want to be when I grow up. Sometimes beauty moves me to tears. I'm not a great leader, but I'm a damn good member of the team. I'm an intentioned late adopter. My preferred method of dusting utilizes compressed air. I think dishes should air dry. Every room in my house is painted a different color. I'm a night owl and a morning person, sometimes on the same day. I've been bitten by : a cougar, cat, dog, bird, myriad rodents, and a kid in second grade. I think I tend to annoy really serious people. Frankly, they kind of bug me too. I finally learned to leave the rake pointy-side-down. I'm using the letter I a lot here but not so much in conversation. And, I really like my life. --I believe in: tipping well, an afterlife, knowing your neighbors, using what you have, doing what you can, shopping locally, family, ghosts, volunteering, grassroots efforts, mending fences, Positive Friction, poetic license, celebrating, leaving a small footprint, taking the scenic route, rules of thumb, going all out, letting people merge in front of you on the freeway, synchronicity, talking to strangers, and making your birthday last a week. --I don't believe in: chain emails, conspicuous consumption, the evening news, suburban sprawl, saying anything about someone that I wouldn't say to them, Hallmark holidays, taking candy from strangers, or interrupting anything or anyone to answer my cell phone. --I am scared of: food courts, road ragers, green ketchup, really tidy people, chorizo, moths, deep water, girls with bumper stickers referring to being a princess or a daddy's girl, the current administration, people who pimp pit bulls, chat rooms, fingernails so long that they curve downward, and the pervasive culture of fear in this country. --I think tempting fate, seeking revenge, and riding motorcycles are all bad ideas. I wish I didn't think riding motorcycles was a bad idea. --"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanks for adding me. ¶ Our many problems have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, and murderers — particularly those in public office — believe people are motivated only by greed and fear. They want us to share that belief, because they use it to justify themselves and to manipulate us. But you and I have found something better inside ourselves and our friends. It's in everyone, if we can just wake them — we're all one flesh and blood. Spread the word. The outcome to the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be a spectator. ¶ The Iraq war, like most wars, was based on lies. And now the occupation is making new enemies faster than it can kill them; that's helpful only to arms dealers. The economy is all wrong too: the rich get richer and fewer, everyone else gets screwed, and the ecosystem gets trashed. These problems are not new, but lately they've become so blatant that we've begun to understand them. It's time to end the military-industrial complex and the corporatocracy. We the people must control government, and government must control business, not the other way around. A good start would be transparency in government, public financing of election campaigns, trustbusting the media, and ending corporate personhood. ¶ Question authority. Carry on the struggle. Hold onto hope. Keep singing. Hand in hand, we can heal the world.

Tellrude...sweet. I may come out to Red Rocks this summer at some point. My buddy wants to go see Ween out there. I dig Ween and have never been to RR. This Vegas thing is going to happen but it's just a matter of coordinating with everybody that wants to go. It's looking like it would be early June...and no you would not miss any Tellrude. It might be sometime next month before I can get all of this together but I promise you will all have plenty of notice. Can't wait to see ya...
