.. Wan Kei-You equals beats & rhymes, rock & soul, love & life .. .. Jonathan Tan, better know as Wan Kei-You, started his musical career in 1996 when he started rapping with his classmate Tim van Kessel. Influenced by groups like A Tribe Called Quest, Capone n Noreaga, Mobb Deep & Slum Village, Wan started making beats with the most basic of instruments. Around this time he formed a crew with Tim van Kessel (Souley), Ruben Rahametwau, Jay Bordeaux & Louis Bordeaux. The crew, with exception of Tim van Kessel, still exists and is renamed 'de Javaanse Jongens' (JJ) in 2006. .. .. Around 1998 Wan met K1 Kerbusch, a rapper from his old neighbourhood, who rapped in Dutch. Wan never listened to Dutch hiphop and was inspired to write lirics in his native tongue. After some freestyle sessions and performances, they called themselves 'Fata Morgana', what stands for 'Mirage' and refers to an old tale about a lost city. Fata Morgana entered some competitions and found themselves in the final round of 'De Grote Prijs Van Nederland 2004', the biggest talent battle in the Netherlands. Around this time Louis Bordeaux joined the crew and the trio started working on new projects. .. .. .. Fata Morgana Website .. .. .. Currently Wan Kei-You is working on several projects. Next to 'Fata Morgana' and 'De Javaanse Jongens (JJ)' Wan is working on his career as producer. Expect releases and mixtapes on this myspace.
