I am a musician, an artist, a writer, a producer, a seeker, a bassist, a yogi, a guitarist, a percussionist, a dance accompanist, a teacher, a joker, a healer, a spiritual warrior, a dancer, a lover, a creator, and a friend. I love many things, like music, yoga, life, nature, people, and consciousness, and I am inspired and hungry to experience the profound contrast, in all that this amazing life has to offer.
I began playing music at the age 14, starting on guitar, and quickly added bass and percussion. I studied music with many different teachers, and in many different styles, in Southern California where I grew up. I have studied and love Jazz, West African, Salsa, Funk, Brasillian, R&B, South Indian, Gospel, Blues, folkloric, and many others. I studied jazz guitar at the University of North Texas. In my 20+ years of playing, I have performed all over the country with many different groups.
I am interested in music that has a deep rhythmic sense, like West African, and other folkloric music, also, music with a sophisticated harmonic sensability, such as Jazz and Brasillian. I am also interested in music with inspiring and compelling melodies, like Pop and Brasillian.
I am currently enjoying a product endorsement from Warwick, and the Dana B. Goods corporation. I live in So. Cal., where I'm playing Salsa, Jazz, R&B, dance classes, and Recording sessions with some of LA's top musicians. I've lived and in Texas, Chicago, and Colorado, where I have toured nationaly, with many groups. I have been performing as a Dance Accompanist for Modern and West African dance classes and performances, for more than 15 years, all over the country. I was the Musical Director of my own 10 peice salsa band, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company, and MD and composer for the Imagination Makers Theatre Company. I recently recorded bass on a jazz fusion CD, that featured the late, great, Michael Brecker. I like waves; in the open ocean, at the beach, and those that flow in a more energetic, and spiritual sense. I like to swim in the ocean, and open my eyes under water; surf, float, dive, bodysurf, and drip-dry in the sun. I like to sit in a fat pocket and just groove, "Layin' it down". I like to eat oranges, and I love to eat sushi. I like Bruce Lee, and I like to drink Ayahuasca. I have a sweet dog named Kiba. I am a triple gemini, so I am dynamic and diverse, and I can play many different roles, and can be many different things. I believe in that which is beyond the realm of thought, into conscious awareness, super-consciousness, prayer and meditation. Ecstatic living through presence of being. Vibrational alignment and beyond, into the stillness, in this electrically charged, magnetic, expanding, ringing, liquid, loving, creative energy power source of a universe, from where we are from and of which we all a part. The stars, the sand, the breath, and all points in between, it/we, are all one. I am currently practicing Yoga, Meditation, Qi Gong, Living, cultivating my connection to the source, and Music.
