About Tom, Tommy, Tomás, Thomas Kent Warburton Jr.
I grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas, U.S.A. and I spent most of my free time as a kid fishing and shooting billiards. And I listened to all the '80's 'hair bands' - until Nirvana came around. That's about when I discovered my fathers record collection. He had vinyls of Robert Johnson, Charlie Parker, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig Von Beethoven. Later I started listening to John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, James Brown, and then even later I started listening to Elis Regina, Keith Jarrett, Don Cherry, Igor Stravinsky, Frank Zappa, Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits, D'Angelo, Mos-Def and J Dilla, just to name few.
After high school, I continued my musical studies with distinguished Prof. David Baker from 1998-2002 at Indiana University, Bloomington, and studied double bass with pedagogue Prof. Bruce Bransby (maestro!) at the same university. After earning my B.A. in Jazz Studies, I moved to Spain and began freelancing. That was 6 years ago...

Hi Tom! I saw on the Social Wall that you made it home alive. I started a zine when I got back called the Nightly Noodle Monthly. And everything else in life is really awesome right now.
