About Warren Pash

Born and raised in Winnipeg and Montreal, Pash lived in Los Angeles and Portland before moving to Nashville. He penned a hit for Hall & Oates ("Private Eyes"), had a song recorded by Carole King ("Life Without Love") and has written music for film and television.

Pash has played bass for Screamin' Jay Hawkins as well as the late Rosco Gordon and shared the stage with Lucinda Williams, The Pixies, The Waterboys, Roger McGuinn, Jeff Healey and Big Star, among others, and -- together with members of the Mavericks, Wilco and Cheap Trick -- played in the supergroup Swag.

Warren produced the celebrated album Chocolate Orchid Piano Bar by the legendary Tupper Saussy.

Plastic Rulers is Warren's current project. The band's eponymous album has just been released.

PASH PENS "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOOD NIGHT" FOR CHARITY - AND SANTA

Rock & Soul Addition to the Christmas Canon Benefits Mercy Corps

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- December 10, 2007 -- Warren Pash never liked Christmas Eve. It wasn't for any "Bah Humbug" reasons, he just didn't like having to go to sleep. The anticipation of Christmas morning would always turn into anxiety and keep him up all night. Then one foggy November evening in 2007, as the co-writer of the Hall & Oates smash "Private Eyes" relaxed in his East Nashville home after a day spent cleaning gutters, he got a knock on the door. It was Santa.

"He said I needed to write and record a Christmas song," recalls Pash, "and get it out in time for Christmas this year. I thought he was nuts. I sarcastically said , 'sure, if you join us the studio,' knowing full well I couldn't afford him."

Surprisingly, Santa agreed, but only if Pash gave the proceeds from the song to charity.

"As he was leaving, he went into his 'Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night' shtick," says Pash. "He must be allergic to my cat, though, because he started sneezing right in the middle of it, and all he got out was 'Merry Christmas and good night.' I had my song title."

"Merry Christmas and Good Night," complete with a cameo from the big guy himself, is available now from Mp3Relief.org. Recorded live at the Toy Box (appropriately) in East Nashville, the song is a rollicking rock & soul addition to the Christmas party song canon -- think Mick Jagger fronting Booker T. and the MGs. It's a "happy, party, kid-friendly, adult-friendly, having-fun-at-Christmas, everyone-get-on-the-sleigh good time," says Pash. "It's one last blast before hitting the sack."

All proceeds from the digital sale of the track will go to Mercy Corps (mercycorps.org), an international charity that exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Mercy Corps works amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability to unleash the potential of people who can win against nearly impossible odds. Since 1979, Mercy Corps has provided $1.3 billion in assistance to people in 100 nations. Supported by headquarters offices in North America, Europe and Asia, the agency's unified global programs employ 3,400 staff worldwide and reach nearly 14.4 million people in more than 35 countries.

"I wanted to aid a charity that helped a variety of people in a variety of places," says Pash. "I talked to several people who spoke highly of Mercy Corps. It is an organization with global reach and a four-star Charity Navigator rating, and that really appealed to me. The great thing about releasing the single through Mp3Relief.org, is that anyone on the planet can download the song and support a charity that helps people all over the planet."
