  • Bio

Michael has been playing music since he was six, forming a band in high school known as "The Fifth Essence". He began playing music professionally when he teamed up with John Tindel in 1979. Their duo, "Michael & John", performed in Alaska, Hawaii, New England & Florida for almost 15 years. They were a regular act at Sloppy Joe's, Key West, Florida from 1981 through 1993. During this time they also played in other well-known musical groups such as "The Johntones", "Beyond the Reef", and "The Southern Cross Band". In 1994 Michael left the music scene and moved back to his families roots in the Missouri Ozarks. During a visit to his son, Hans, in October of 1998 Michael met Rebecca. Rebecca began playing washboard in Aspen, Colorado in September of 1988. In one years time she was performing as a street entertainer with banjo player, Jeep Caillouet. They performed together in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Memphis & New Orleans until December 1994. It was in Key West, Florida that Rebecca made the jump from street entertainer to stage entertainer, when she began playing with local favorite, Terry Cassidy. In September of 1995 the light-hearted duo began playing at Sloppy Joe's Bar as "TC & Rebecca", and continued on as a regular year-around act until July of 1999. Michael & Rebecca met in October 1998 at Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West, Florida. It took just under a year for Michael & Rebecca to fall in love, move from Key West, Florida to Birch Tree, Missouri, begin building a cabin on their 34 acres, and begin a new career together playing music as the duo, "Michael & Rebecca with COSMO the Hi-Tech Washboard". On Earth Day (April 22) 2000, they were married in the front yard of their Ozark mountain home. Since that time they have played in most of the 48 states in various capacities (bars, restaurants, VFWs, private parties and functions, festivals and concerts). Here are some of the familiar tunes you'll hear: City of New Orleans, Bobby Magee, Proud Mary, Wabash Cannonball, Your Mama Don't Dance, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Mr. Bojangles, Under the Boardwalk, Drift Away, Dance Little Jean, Aimee, Six Days on the Road, The Battle of New Orleans, Teach Your Children, Mountain Music, A Pirate Looks at Forty, Mrs. Robinson, and many more, including our originals. In early 2007 they shortened the band name to COSMO, because it's easier to advertise and because after all, COSMO is the star of the show! ................MySpace Layouts.. - ..Nature myspace layouts.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
