Washington Street have been around for a few years in various guises - drummer Derek Buglass and bassist Stewart Cable have been locking down the rythym section in various bands together since 2000. Washington Street was born in 2005 and, after a few years of musical chairs, finally came of age with the addition of Ryan Gibson on guitar, Phil, Chris & Jahan forming the hippest horn section since the JB's, and Michael adding soulful, smoking keys.
The band has quickly established itself on the Glasgow and Edinburgh gigging scene and have been causing a stir across Central Scotland with their high-energy funk soul and jazz.

Washington Street are gigging regularly across the central belt. Previous gigs include Glasgow's Art School, the Arches, and Butterfly and Pig. In Edinburgh the band can often be seen bringing the funk to the prestigous Jazz Bar on Chambers Street as well as making waves at various university unions. They've several times graced the main stage at Princes Street Gardens during the festival & recently supported Wishbone Ash at The Ferry in Glasgow. Now confirmed as The Halt Bar's fortnighly funk providers the band can be seen every other Friday night in this fantastic intimate venue in Glasgow's West End. Bring your dancing shoes!

Washington Street play a mix of mainly original songs and a few classic funk covers, giving their set their own, very unique, funky sound. The mix of musical ingredients is varied; funk, soul, jazz, latin, rock. but the result is undeniable.
BOOTY SHAKIN' FOOT STOMPIN' FUNK!
