Owosso, Michigan transplant, Nixon, is a multi-talented musician who's skills are helping to shape the sound of Grand Rapids Hip-Hop. As a producer Nixon has contributed instrumentation to numerous projects including, Rick Chyme's The Autobiography Of The Unknown and Five It Till You Die Volume 1: Vice City, SteDDy's Road Work, Ed Nino's S.O.A.P., Suport's Fullashh.., as well as his own debut Pyrit Radio Volume 1. His engineering skills have also been monumental in the creation of 100's of songs for various Michigan artists.
While content remaining behind the scenes, Nixon has stepped forward as one of the unique voices in Grand Rapids, offering his perspective on life through grippingly detailed stories often laid down over classic rock samples. Pyrit Radio Volume 1 serves as the optimal example of artist unity in a genre often plagued by selfishness. Riddled with rock solid guest appearances over lethally sick production, Pyrit successfully tightropes the fine line between a compilation and a solo album. The result is an entertaining, diverse collection of songs that are equally as intriguing when performed live.
Performances at various open mics and house parties have molded Nixon into a beast on the stage. In the past year he graced nearly every stage Grand Rapids has to offer including: The Orbit Room, The Intersection, Billy's Lounge, and The Breakroom. 2007 also found his Pyrit Ship sailing to Big Rapids, Kalamazoo and Grand Haven in an effort to spread his sound statewide.
This year should see Nixon crafting several more projects. Currently in the studio cooking up his newest creation, Devils Rejects, while also prepping The Poor Sports debut album, Game Misconduct, and beginning work as part of a new union entitled, Left Brain (Manwolf, Nixon, Rick Chyme). There will be no shortage of music offered by the self proclaimed, "White Boy up in a rock shirt.." in the coming months. Stay tuned.
