Waterloo will bring one of the greatest pop phenomenons in the history of music back to life!!!
Waterloo the Band was formed in 1996 in their hometown Stockholm, Sweden and quickly became known for its fantastic ABBA-sound and the stunning look-alike show they put on. The audience and press all agreed - "This is the closest to ABBA you'll ever get".
During 1998 - 2001 Waterloo the Band toured clubs and festivals around Scandinavia, Europe and Asia.
In 2001 Waterloo went into collaboration with The London National Symphony Orchestra and "ABBA - The Show" was born. It told the story of ABBA and the premiere show was in Skien, Norway September 24th 2001. This show was followed by hundreds of ABBA - The Show performances all over the world, to name but a few:
- 5 consecutive USA-tours 2002 - 2006 with sold-out shows at venues like the famous Hollywood Bowl in LA, Highland Park in Chicago, Seaside Summer Concert Series in Brooklyn NY and many more.
- 2 tours in Germany 2003 & 2008
- 5 tours in Scandinavia
- Tours in Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, India and the Philippines.
- A sold-out performance at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England September 26th 2007
In total Waterloo the Band has performed in more than 20 countries all over the world.
During all these tours the show has always consisted of two or three guest artists who once were original members of the ABBA rhythm section. Over the years the following ABBA-musicians have performed with Waterloo the Band:
Guitarists Mats Ronander, Lasse Wellander and Janne Schaffer
Drummers Ola Brunkert and Roger Palm
Bassists Rutger Gunnarsson and Mike Watson
Saxophone player Ulf Andersson
In 2004 Waterloo signed an exclusive management deal with Swedish production- & managing company FTS Showbusiness AB. Together with FTS Waterloo is always making plans on how to develop the show and make it
better and better.
The past few years have been extremely successful for Waterloo. Part from
touring all over the world, the band has also put up five different Christmas shows in Stockholm (2003), Gothenburg (2004), Ronneby (2005), Västerås (2006), Ystad and Borås (2008) together with some of the biggest
pop/rock/musical stars in Sweden.
In 2009 it's time for another classic ABBA Christmas with guest artists.
In October 2007 and April 2008 Waterloo did two longer domestic tours that was
set up by FTS Showbusiness AB and HitNöje and the latest tour also took them
to Finland playing a total of 23 shows in 26 days.
Waterloo the Band will continue to remain in the top, playing the great music of ABBA with the same respect as before. Waterloo will keep up the quality of the music to remain the most professional ABBA production on the market. It's not a coincidence that the Official ABBA Fan-Club has named Waterloo "The best ABBA tribute band in the world".
