You would be sound deaf if you did not hear the Weller influence battering your ears on this CD, however to say that Terry is more or less ripping Weller would be to far over the top.There is no doubt that a lot of time and effort has been put into this, both in money and craft work.But people will take notice of this and he is starting to find the reference more and more.
Its well produced, it hits all the right buttons in that department.There are some fine moments here, it may well become somewhat of a classic in time, maybe a lost classic, but a classic.The Hard hitting 'Can You Feel It?' really is one hell of a catchy tune, the Guitar cuts away and the backline's in and out stance is excellent. But for me it's the opening track, why that opening reminds me of the Glam Rock era even I'm not sure, but that's soon forgotten as 'Shine On' slips through the speakers, yeah this is good honest British Pop, here any reference to any one above fades, Terry Comes fully into his own, it cuts and thrusts and his fine voice makes a stand.
So what we have is more than a 'Britpop newbie, more than a New Weller, more than a Mod Revivalist, we have a fine songwriter, a fine player and an album full of quality pop, if this make's the grade and sells well and we see another release I'm sure it will be a stormer, and Terry you have set your own bar very high on this release indeed..
Its been a bit quiet of late, not had alot of time to keep this place ticking over. Anyway ive finaly got around to adding some differant songs, maybe some of you will have heard them and some wont. There are very early demos and a storming live version of News Of The World, plus the 1st mix of Eton Rifles. Ive also added some new youtube videos and new pics on the front page.
