I went to see the opening night of 'We That Are Left' at the Palace Theatre on Monday and, have to say, thoroughly enjoyed it. It was ace - I had seat number 23 (my favourite number!! gleeful shriek!). Also, promised the good people of the Palace that I'd justify my drunken appearance at the press night with some kind of review - y'know I'm cultured enough daaaahling. So here goes;
'An intriguing tale of wartime romance, society under pressure and the repercussions years later, 'We That Are Left' is a clever presentation of past and present (often both occupying the same space on stage) with a consistently entertaining script and great acting (particularly from the older version of the main characters). The story has such colour and content it's easy to forget there're only four actors in the entire production, all of which are great and expertly lead the audience through this charming tale of nostalgia and love in the face of extreme hardship. Needless to say, it all gets a bit emotional. Had to pretend I had summink in my eye.... Best monday night out I've spent in some time. All concerned deserve a biscuit. Hell... make it two. Lookin forward to the next evenin at the Palace!'
