I have a South London up bringing, although born North of The Water and have a beautiful daughter, great friends and two dogs, Roman and Linus. I love all my mates because my true friends are genuine, loyal people and trust them with my life - but maybe not my record collection :) Plus they make me laugh, especally my closest mates who are forever trying to fix me up with unsuitable men but I have so much fun with my bandmates - do I really need a man?!! (Answers on a very small postcard c/o The Gonads)
I suppose my main interests are music, going to gigs, watching films and football. (Chelsea & Fisher Athletic.... "C'mon The Fish!!") I went to my first gig open air gig when I was 13 (Rock Against Racism with SLF and Elvis Costello) and my first 'pub' gig at 14 which was The Chords at The Wellington in Waterloo - followed by The Jam at The Rainbow a month later and have NEVER looked back. Around that time too was when I first started working with a band called Apocalypse - they were my school mates
I enjoy playing around on The Jam's and iJamming Forums :)
My main band is The Gonads, and have just recorded a track especially written for me by Gal Gonad and Tony 'Feedback' (also of Long Tall Shorty & Angelic Upstarts fame) for the new album. Gal is on backing vocals for a change :) Not someting I'd ever thought to do before but just sort of fell into place
I have many beliefs that don't always follow the 'norm' and firmly believe that everything you do there is a consequence to it (good or bad). So I try to be good, honest.....
I watch as many films as possible, some of my favourites I've listed, and try to get to at least one gig a week (usually more) as nothing for me is more enjoyable than a 'live' gig - plus the fact that I then get to see so many mates on a weekly basis.
For the last year or so I started to video gigs where possible and now have quite a large Youtube collection of vids which more or less get added to weekly
I'm pretty easy going and always up for a laugh, (which was my downfall at school and occasionally work) but I really don't suffer fools gladly and can't abide spiteful or rude people, and avoid as much as possible but LATELY it's not so easy. I don't like being near people who's cup is always half empty. I seriously have very little patience for moaners or people who nag!! Also people who don't do much with their own lives and critise those who do make an effort - you know the types. Oh and pushy mothers/women who lives their lives through their kids or partners and of course anyone who thinks the 'world' owes them a living
I moderate a couple of forums as mentioned where I have met some fantastic people away from the internet as we meet up at gigs etc
For all Jam Fans there's a book by The Jam's Offical Photographer, Twink. He has published photo's of The Jam that until now have remained unseen. I've ordered The Limited Edition copy.
Hi Wattsie, Hope you are ok,like the new Jam myspace.I`m going to see FTJ in Manchester with an old friend i`ve not seen since 1987.He used to come and see my band back in 83 and one of my songs was loosely based on him.Shame he`s only going to see 1/3rd of The Jam.I saw the Specials last night with another mate from those times and he said it`s the music that counts which is very true.I`m so lucky with all the friends i`ve made through my music over the years, will always be in your debt for the Leicester gig. All the best Tim
It's essentially a music review aggregation service, providing a constantly updated chart of critical reaction to releases, with various ways for users to personalise the chart.
We're hoping the site will be another useful way for music lovers to find new music. So if you like it, please use it and also pass on the link.
Hello Wattsie, it's a pleasure being your friend. I've seen that we have similar musical tastes. You are luckier than me, though, because you live in England and you've got far more chances to catch cool bands live. Hope to meet you one day. Keep an eye on us because I'm sure you're going to hear about us again. By the way, if in the future you, Gal/The Gonads or whoever is looking for a support act in Italy or in the UK, consider us as well ;-) Cheers from Padova, Italy and have a nice weekend. Marco M.I.H.
