   About The Waxing Captors
The Captors formed from high school friends playing crude but catchy and effective punk songs. They have developed in a more ironic and intellectual direction. Having said this, this is not music for the discerning enthusiast, their artiness is blatantly superficial and naive. They remain based on showmanship, and there is no sign that they have any interest in developing their songs beyond a crude ass-shake and a shallow undeveloped surrealist detective story, or jenga-tumble of sixth-form automatic-writing. Without the absurd amount of energy their wiry frames contain they would not raise a single eyebrow. It makes me sick that how they could convince you that making up words is a worthwhile activity. They hand out little plastic guns that fire sucker darts to the front row of the audience before they go on. They have a backdrop made from a twister mat splattered with red paint, plastic limps, and shredded bloodstained tracksuits. Their audience is entirely constituted by unruly sixth formers. DO NOT ENDORSE THEM! Four audio releases have been taken from the Captors box of tricks in their 3 year history, including Les Resovoi, a collection of easy listening punk tracks, The Waxing Captors EP, contianing more varied nuggets and The Chinese Rope which featured a small selection of indie-rock tracks which such the unearthly delight of 'Slot Machines', a literal musical interpretation of inner-turmoil and also focused on the 'story style' songwriting with the detective story of the title track. The Chinese Rope was recorded in the front room of the drummers house via a collection of complex pulleys and strings. As time passed the venues and bands subjected to the Captors have been more varied, and continually growing in size More new hair styles we seen as well as more new shoes, and more bad-ass tunes! These 'bad-ass tunes' eventualy lead to the latest release 'Freleven's Remains' Here, the band having learnt the skills of self-recording, we able to indulge in the sounds of the recordings themselves. Guitars were recorded in the guitarists bedrooms, garages and bathrooms as well as highways and ditches which gave them an unworly yet familuar natural sound, perfectly lending themselves to such tracks as' Atolia of San Berdanino' and '(File Under) Rock/Pop'. The vocals were later recorded in the singer's airing cupboard, giving them a much 'warmer' sound. The band has evelved and changed accordingly to the world indie the band member's own selfish, small minded interests over the last 3 years and although it is drawing to a semi-close at the moment, with a parting of the ways, all looks set for a casual continuation of many of the ideas the band have already well established in the very near future. The Waxing Captors will play.
