About me: First, Let me explain what WAXTAX-N DRE means and how I got that name. My DJ name was DJ Dre years ago but I kept running into a lot of DJ Dre's. So, I wanted a name to stand out and be different. So, I seen a guy that called himself "DJ Miz the Waxer". I thought that was dope! So, I kind of bit off of his name and added Taxer. So, it was "DJ Dre the Wax Taxer". Well, I was working at a club called the Outkast and the host of the party was JD (RIP). He heard me announce my name as DJ Dre The Wax Taxer. So, one night he changed it up and said, "Yeah we got DJ Wax Taxin Dat Ass Dre on the turntables. That was it! I had to roll with that name, but a few years later. I got hired for radio and back then you could not really say "Ass" on the radio. So, I shorted my name to "DJ WAXTAX-N DRE". Ok, I finally answer that question. Now, back to the Bio.
This DJ has done it all! WAXTAX-N DRE is one of Detroit’s Legend DJ’s. He has blessed the Detroit City with 20 years of the hottest music. WAXTAX-N DRE has also won the hearts of listeners for 9 years on Detroit’s WDTJ 105.9 Jamz. DJ’ing is not just a job for him, it was a lifestyle.
Over the past 20 years WAXTAX-N DRE has achieved many awards from record labels (Def Jam records, Universal records, Bad Boy records, Shady records and many more). Oh! But the awards don’t stop there! He has won DJ of the year 3 times (from Pearls Music Awards and Detroit Music Awards) and took 2nd place at Midwest DJ of the year according to the Mix Show Power Summit.
This guy has DJ’ed all over the Country and over the Sea’s (literally). That’s right WAXTAX-N DRE has also Pumped up the Jamz on a cruise ship for the Historic Black College University (Carnival cruise lines), but it did not stop there. He also DJ’ed the crew party for the Carnival employees.
WAXTAX-N DRE has the experience to play for all type of crowds. He has mixed up Hip-hop, R&B, Reggae, Booty, Bass, Pop, Old school, Hustle music, House, Techno, Trance, Disco, Blues and more.
WAXTAX-N DRE has opened up for many Hip-hop and R&B artists (Run DMC, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Cube and many more) and we can’t forget The Detroit Pistons and private parties for the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Shock.
With all this under his belt, you wonder can WAXTAX-N DRE be stopped!? Well… He has just started his new career in acting. WAXTAX-N DRE has been making Detroit laugh on TV for 4 years with his funny characters on Switch Play TV (a Video/Sketch Comedy Show). He is one of the Main Actors on Switch Play TV, and as of March 2004 Switch Play TV went nation wide.
