Travel, politics, activism, outdoor activities, music, theater, playing with my puppies, and reading trashy gay fiction (my guilty pleasure)...
Music
Anything and everything! Anything with Cyndi Lauper completely has my vote. NO CELINE DION! Have you seen her neck when she sings? And her 300 year old husband? Sorry, random tangent...
Movies
I am an independent film junkie. The wierder and more twisted the better. I also love dark comedies. "Drop Dead Gorgeous", "Heathers", "Jawbreaker", "Saved"... Anything that pokes fun in a mean-spirited way is a guilty pleasure...
Television
I am addicted to Family Guy (the smartest show on TV), Project Runway ("carry on!"), American Idol, Amazing Race, The L Word (even with all the girl-on-girl action), Mile High (a trashy, campy british drama about flight attendants on the BBC), Simpsons, Little Britain (yeah, but no, but yeah, but seriously...), Dexter, Weeds, and... wait, I am sooo gay... geez...
Books
All I do is read to relax, so if it's print, I've probably read it. I especially like Augusten Burrows (everyone should read "Running with Scissors", it will make you feel better about your childhood), Gregory Macquire ("Wicked" and "Son of a Witch"; very smart, political, satire in fairy tale form), and David Sedaris (if he writes it, I will come...).

I am President and Co-Founder of Fight OUT Loud, a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering LGBT individuals, and their allies, to fight discrimination and hate. My partner and I were inspired to get involved in activism and create Fight OUT Loud as a result of an eye-opening experience of discrimination (read about it HERE or just ask me).
I am a vocal community activist and LGBT rights advocate. Besides my non-profit work, I also work as political consultant specializing in web-based action, social networking, and youth outreach. I am also on the Editorial Team for The Bilerico Project, the nation's leading LGBTQ blog forum, the Managing Editor of The Bilerico Project Florida Edition, and a political columnist for the online magazine GaySoFla.com.
I have been happily partnered for 6 years with my amazing husband Anthony Niedwiecki, a law professor and administrator at Nova Southeastern University (and running for Mayor of Oakland Park in 2009! Woo-Hoo!). We received our civil union from Vermont and are registered domestic partners in Broward County, where we live with our two wonderful dogs. We also recently got married in San Francisco!! We are also is the proud foster parents of a now college-aged son.
When I'm not completely immersed in advocacy work, I somehow manage to have a good time and truly enjoy life. The most important things to me are just to be happy, live life to its fullest, and help others do the same.
All in all, I am trying to do my best to make the world around me better. I am also someone who is always looking to talk and get to know new, quality people. I am always looking to expand my group of friends and hang out buddies. So feel free to say hello!

Who I'd like to meet: Anyone and everyone! I love making new friends, especially since I travel all over for work and like knowing people in the towns I go to. I wouldn't mind some cool South Florida folks either! So talk away, new random friends!
