Wayne B Magruder plays drums and samples for Brooklyn-based band Calla and records as a solo artist under the monikers “Wayne B”, "Wayne b Magruder", "tenEcke" and "Highway Robbery". Magruder's first solo recording was the"adi-pre puddled" 12" record followed by the full-length "Block Terrain". (K20 Records) In 2005 "Night of the Hunter" was released under the name "Wayne B" on Quatermass Records and featured guest vocals by Daphne Gannon (NYC) Jana Plewa (Berlin). As "Highway Robbery", Wayne uses samples culled exclusively from a found reel-to-reel tape of marching bands to make ambient music.
Welcome to Billy's Bunker (Music Reviews)! It's been busy in the Bunker.
The latest review is of Wussy's self-titled CD released this month. That album is folk honest and rock hard. Chuck Weaver's guitar sound should be patented as "Wingéd Agony." This album by Wussy is a sexy, spiritual, human experience with folk honesty and cluster bombs of rock 'n' roll.
Hoy Wayne! Here is a chance to get an exclusive peak at my remix of Fujiya & Miyagi's 'Dishwasher' which is the b-side to their next single released in April.
