Splitting time between Austin TX and NYC, Wayne B Magruder plays drums and samples for Brooklyn-based band Calla and records as a solo artist under the monikers “Wayne B”, "Wayne b Magruder" and "tenEcke". Taking cues from Calla, his past membership in Bowery Electric and stints in Windsor for the Derby, Wayne B creates music with acoustic guitars, gritty samples, sub bass, and fractured drums. Magruder's first solo recording was the"adi-pre puddled" 12" record followed by the full-length "Block Terrain". (K20 Records) In 2005 "Night of the Hunter" was released under the name "Wayne B" on Quatermass Records and featured guest vocals by Daphne Gannon (NYC) Jana Plewa (Berlin). Wayne's new project, "Highway Robbery" uses sounds extracted exclusively from a deteriorated found reel-to-reel tape to make loop-based ambient music.
