“IN MY HANDS” Album Release May 1st 2009
On the release of his debut Album “IN MY HANDS” Wayne Brennan is notably gaining a lot of attention within the music industry and indeed the general public. And if modestly experiencing a Top 20 Irish charted Single on his first ever release (And I love) wasn’t enough, eBay Ireland are using his music for their current promotion which is outstanding and unheard of for an unsigned act. Fast becoming one of Irelands most sought after performers, Brennan puts heavy emphasis on the importance of touring, and this experience is evident in his live show. Brennan is now building up support from an impressive list of industry professionals, including RTE’s Pat Kenny and Larry Gogan.
Wayne’s most recent single MAKE YOU SMILE has been play listed on Regional radio all over the country including Nationally on RTE Radio 1. ‘IN MY HANDS’ the first studio Album has received excellent reviews from The Irish Times “Wayne Brennan has the wide-eyed wistfulness needed to survive past the first post in this crazy business they call music - Unquestionably, Brennan is a first- timer with an original voice – and something to say”, Hotpress and The Daily Star all give it double thumbs up.
Wayne has appeared on an endless list of radio shows across the nation, the most recent being with the Pat Kenny show on RTE, and has played high profile gigs with renowned artists such as The Gypsy Kings, Alabama 3, Brian Kennedy, Aslan, Natty Wailer, John Spillane, Mick Flannery, Jack L and The Coronas.
Continuing the good news from strength to strength- Wayne was selected as one of the Top 10 musicians for “Rising Stars” talent competition at the Dublin City Soul Festival in May ‘09 and his music video for his single “Please Please” was given a featured video spot on youtube.com. The release of this video Gathered 4,000 plays on day one! Previous to this his single Top Chart single “And I Love” received 100,000 + plays – a massive compliment for any musician.
Offaly born, Wayne’s music encompasses a variety of genres that in the hands of many other artists would be over-ambitious, but with Wayne it sounds as if he’s been playing since the day he was born. His enigmatic craft and artistry on the guitar is nothing short of astonishing.
Of course it helps to have a musical background- he is self-educated in the art of instrumentation, song writing and singing, which is remarkable, considering his vast eclectic style. His Irish roots are obvious, yet his songs are also infused with such genre-bridging meshes of reggae, flamenco, country, metal and rock. Far from being an undecipherable noise, it’s his willingness to play what comes naturally to him that allows Wayne to share his belief that music is for everyone.
His brilliant uplifting and awe-inspiring debut album 'In My Hands' is a sincere portrayal of a man who shapes his own destiny. And for Wayne, life certainly is, in his hands! With an Australian, American, European & Uk tour behind - the stage is set for Wayne Brennan to reach the wider audience his music deserves. Wayne continues his media tour and will not stop until he has played in every corner of the country, revisiting his loyal and growing fan base and gathering new supporters for his wonderful performances.
*In my hands is available on iTunes and all good digital online sites. And also Nationwide in all record stores too!*
QUOTES: “Wayne Brennan has the wide-eyed wistfulness needed to survive past the first post in this crazy business they call music - Unquestionably, Brennan is a first- timer with an original voice – and something to say”
Siobhan Long, The Irish Time May 09
“A good introduction for any singer/songwriter, it’s instantly catchy while hinting at an as yet unseen deeper, rawer element. Though folky at his heart, Brennan likes nothing better than to show off his undoubted skills with the guitar - A good taste of what’s to come”.
Andrew Hamilton, Clare People
“Wayne Brennan is an amazing musician and he can make the most beautiful sounds from his Spanish acoustic guitar”
