Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra, a unique blend of professional, student, and community players, seeks to provide area musicians with an opportunity to play orchestral music. The orchestra aspires to become a vital part of the cultural community as an intergenerational educational experience.
History
The Waynesboro Community Orchestra was founded in 1996. In our debut concert, 23 members performed works of Lully, Bach, and Haydn.
Since that time, the orchestra has grown in every way - we have doubled in size and consistently tackle challenging repertoire. We welcome members from communities outside of Waynesboro, including Staunton, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, and Richmond, and regularly perform in Staunton as part of a partnership with Mary Baldwin College. The orchestra also continues to collaborate with professional soloists in concerto performances and to maintain is support of "The String School," which provides after school violin lessons.
In the spring of 2006, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the orchestra's new name, Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra, acknowledging just how far we had come! During the 2005-2006 Season, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary with a series of concerts, celebrations, and a hugely successful auction. Our future is definitely bright!

Thank you for Saturday's performance. I look forward to experiencing more of Dr. Peter Wilson's style at future performances. Lise Keiter-Brotzman's performance was very passionate. I would definitely enjoy another piano concerto!
So, because this is the ONLY profile I've ever seen that didn't have comments, I decided to leave it a comment. Rock on orchestras, long live music and peace out. (-:
