Wood County Emergency Communications Inc.'s Blurbs
About me:
We are an all volunteer organization providing back-up and overload communications for Wood County, WV and all surrounding counties. We provide extra support on any major emergencies that we are called to assist on. We are in agreement with all of the Volunteer Fire Departments in Wood County and in some of the surrounding counties.
We provide communications for many local activities such as the Parkersburg Half Marathon, Homecoming Parade and the Christmas Parade. We also provide Communications for most of the road races, bike races, or cross country races in the county. As well as being involved in the Mock Disasters to further our training in order to provide better service to those we are helping.
We are a NON-Profit, 501-c3 organization that is able to purchase the equipment we need by running the Bingo games at the Parkersburg Homecoming, the Interstate Fair, and Volcano Days. We are working on getting some grants to purchase a new trailer for us to use on any Emergency we may be called to assist on. We also have two 24x40 ft canopies, as well as 150 chairs and tables that are lent to some of the local Fire Departments to assist them with their fund raisers such as their Ice Cream Socials. This benefits them as well as us because it helps get the name WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS INC. around.

(Feb., April, June, Aug., Oct., and Dec.) at the 911 Center on Core Road unless notified beforehand. We are always looking for more who are interested in Amatuer Radio.
Check out the "I.R. Phone Home After Action Report" by clicking on the link above. Notice how we are involved with many other agencies within and around the county, and those from out of state. Read through and notice how we are involved and what we can do in the time of disaster. We want to thank those involved .
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who protects and serves. This includes Amatuer Radio operators, firefighters, police, and anyone in any branch of the military. You all help to keep us safe in one way or another. There is no way of thanking each and every one of you, but the way you feel when you have saved someone should tell you how much you are truly needed.
