About me:
Welcome to the World Championship Lineman's Rodeo Official Myspace page. You can contact us through here just like you can through our sites (www.wclinemansrodeo.com and www.linemansrodeo.com). We will be posting pictures from the 3rd Annual WCLR throughout the year. Make sure you keep an eye on our blog as we will post updates through the year also.
The WCLR was started in 2004 by William Weems. There were 19 teams in 2005, and in 2006 that number grew to 27 teams and 36 apprentices. In 2007 was had 28 teams, and 21 apprentices. Last year the event was held on the Louisiana Boardwalk, and provided a spacious event and also provided beautiful views of the Red River. We also had about 22 booths at the event, with other shopping just steps away on the Boardwalk.
This year we gave away over $30,000 in prizes. We gave away hats, WCLR plaques, WCLR belt buckles, and thanks to Carhartt brand new Carhartt FR jackets! Better sign up now, as we will probably have even better prizes for 2008!
2007 events were: Hurtman Resuce, Pole Climb, and 2 Mystery Events. We also have a winner take all Bell Run at the end of the competition (Voluntary). More information can be found at www.linemansrodeo.com under "Events". We also have our rules posted under the "Rules" section.
We will return to The Boardwalk in Bossier City Louisiana for our 2008 Rodeo. The Expo and Awards Ceremony will be held at the Shreveport Convention Center in Shreveport Louisiana. The 2008 dates are April 25-26, 2008. Journeyman Team entry fees are $350. Apprentices are $150. We are adding Individual Journeyman Events this year for guys that CANT get a team together. Entry fees for this is also $150.
