My Life in Dog Years
Autobiography
My Life in Dog Years is a collection of essays by Gary Paulsen. Each essay reflects the story of a dog that he had at certain times of his life and how that dog either saved his life, or left an imprint upon his memory. The book opens with the tale of Cookie and how she saved his life while he was out trapping. The book closes with Josh, the dog he had at the time of the writing and how devoted, loyal, and smart the dog was.
I'm not sure if you'll be at the Public Library Association conference this week in Minneapolis, but I'll be promoting my new book, Paraworld Zero, at booth #1326, under the banner of "Parallel Worlds LLC." Perhaps I'll see you there.
Thank you for the add. I'm looking for readers to chat with about me new book. I would love to hear what you think. Let me know if you get a chance to read it.
Thanks for the add and supporting us as we celebrate African American children's literature! Visit The Brown Bookshelf to see the authors and illustrators being spotlighted during our 28 Days Later Campaign in February. Stay in the know by reading The Brown Bookshelf blog.
Thanks for the ad. I hope you'll check out my new novel, GIVING UP THE GHOST. It’s my dearest wish that its themes of fear, grief, and forgiveness, leavened with humor and gripped by a ghostly mystery, will bring comfort and healing to young readers living with uncertainty in unsettling times.

Crystal Clear Blue Skies
Towers weep on peaceful shores.
Crystal clear blue skies.
Across the water, we answered the call,
Never questioning why.
Race over the berm and down the road,
Rebuilding ancient Babylon.
Smiles, waves, and shouts of joy.
Gratuities of hidden fire and roadside bombs.
Blistering sun and mouths full of sand,
White salt stains chalk the skin.
Handshake through a turret gun sight,
Peace attempted to win.
Pain, anxiety, disillusionment,
Seek comfort in each other.
Go back again, one more time,
Only for my sister or brother.
