Great things are in store for Select Start fans in 2008.
January 22, 2008 brings the release of their new emotronic EP, "The Rotary", and more touring inside Florida and out.
Starting as a three piece in 2003, Joe, Adam and Pat, added their EP producer, Matt, near the end of 2004.
Early 2005 saw Select Start license music from "Black Hair That's to Dye For", for a national TV commercial for Rhino Linings, when an ad agency found and downloaded the song from Pure Volume.
While this licensing paid for their band trailer, a Rhino Linings "It Won't Warp Tour" and sponsorship was never pursued.
At the first ever Taste of Chaos in Orlando and promotion of the 2005 Warped Tour comic book theme at Megacon, their guerrilla marketing efforts, and their EP, impressed Kevin Lyman enough, to land them their first performance outside of the Tampa Bay area, playing the Kevin Says/Hot Topic Stage at the 2005 Jacksonville Warped Tour!
They also also played the Ernie Ball stage in Tampa.
In 2006, Select Start was chosen to showcase at the Florida Music Festival and by NPPL Live at Paintball to perform at Raymond James Stadium.
The 2006 FMF's Indie Film Jam, exhibited the "Care A Little For Caroline" music video, created by Buckstar Entertainment.
At the end of 2006, Select Start DIY'd there first 12 day tour outside Florida.
While finishing college in 2007, Select Start embarked on a successful five week DIY tour of the Southeast and East Coast/Midwest, and continued to focusing on expanding their Florida fan base.
With the December 2007 addition of Jason, to play 2nd guitar, and with Matt focusing on synth/sequencing, Select Start is now simply five best friends from Tampa Florida, writing and playing some of most heartfelt, happy hardcore, emotronic, power pop tunes that girls (and their boyfriends) from 13 to 30 seem to love.
Since the MySpace posting of "Baby You Amaze" December 8, 2007, they've been consistently a Top US Myspace Indie Artist in Powerpop (#15-#20), Emotronic (#1) and Happy Hardcre (#1).
As noted in Friday, December 21, 2007's
Fueled By Photography e-interview, when asked about the time they spend on MySpace:
"Too much. We don't believe in fans... we believe in friends. So we answer every message and comment. It really hard to keep up with. It used to be just Adam and I running the myspace, now all five us us do it. But every minute spent is worth it. We love keeping in touch with everyone."
Select Start will appeal to fans of Motion City Soundtrack, Hello Goodbye, The Postal Service, and Fall Out Boy, to name a few.
Select Start seeks tour sponsorship and performance opportunities in US, Canada, Australia, European and Asia.
They are especially interested in supporting the local scene and local bands, who are willing to work as hard as they do.
Venues/events/sponsors catering to All Ages are of special interest.
Select Start also supports charitable causes:
