Steve Key is the co-manager of the WCS showcase in SLO. He is new to the Central Coast, but grew up in the Bay Area and got his start performing in South Bay nightclubs. He won the Kerrville Folk Festival emerging songwriter contest, and was a top 10 finalist in the Mountain Stage NewSong contest in West Virginia and the Plowshares contest in the Philadelphia area. He is an honorary Lifetime Member of the Songwriters Association of Washington DC (SAW).------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The showcase is presented by West Coast Songwriters, a Bay Area-based non-profit educational organization with more than 1,200 members. Local WCS member Steve Key of Pismo Beach is the manager of the showcase, which is held on first Sundays at The Clubhouse. Shows begin at 6:30pm. There is no cover charge. All ages are welcome.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Performers may sign up by contacting Steve Key, steve@stevekey.com. Part of the show is a competition among WCS members for Best Song and Best Performance of the night. Only WCS members are eligible to compete (membership info: www.westcoastsongwriters.org). If space allows, non-members may perform as our guests.

Painted Sky Studios of Cambria has donated two hours of recording time to the Best Song winner. West Coast Songwriters produces more than 20 events a month in Hollywood, Sacramento, around the Bay Area and now in SLO. In August, each showcase invites its Best Song winners to return for a playoff -- one winner from each showcase goes to the finals held at the Freight & Salvage nightclub in Berkeley. Three winners are picked to perform in front of publishers, producers, booking agents, hit songwriters and record company executives at the Annual Songwriters Conference at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills in September.

The Clubhouse @ This Old House is located at 740 W. Foothill Blvd., about a quarter mile north of Los Osos Valley Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405. Dinner menu and full bar available.

Hey there, sorry we missed Sunday night! After the showcase in the afternoon (thanks for coming btw) we were pretty 'spent' - but we plan on checking it out next time:)
Great scene on Sunday! Bummer that I had to leave early, but next time I'll be in for the long haul. What an amazing thing to get to hear Kenny. He's got some serious history and experience under his belt, and it shows!
Hey SLO folks, thanks for the add. We love SLO and have played Linnaea's a few times. Hopefully we'll meet some of you when we play again there in August or September. - Bill
