In mid-August 2007, the eight people that make up We Aeronauts relocated to France for a holiday. They took a car-full of instruments with them too. When they came back they had a band. They wrote a load of songs inspired by the occasion, from the endless bike-rides around the valley they were in, to the foothills of the Alps on the horizon. When they returned they continued to write and began to play shows. In their time as a band they have played live with Why?, Johnny Flynn, Laura Marling, Jeff Lewis and Okkervil River amongst others, received Radio play from Huw Stephens and recorded a radio session with BBC Oxford Introducing.
Their first year together culminated in a set at Truck Festival in Steventon, Oxfordshire, at which they recorded a video session for broadcasting legend Bob Harris. However, not long after that the band dispersed around the globe, with members setting up shop in Mongolia, India, Spain, Canada and Serbia. The remaining members continued to gig, and one by one the travellers returned, before playing triumphant sets at the inaugural sold-out Owl Parliament festival at the Union Chapel and at the London Bridge art-space/venue Shunt.
Their second anniversary saw them playing the main stage at Green Man Festival in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, as victors of the in-house competition to open the weekend's proceedings. We Aeronauts are also working towards their debut single and EP releases, due in late 2009.

Hello. We're very happy to be friends but be warned, our friendship is a rare and fragile thing which needs to be nurtured. Therefore, we must establish a few ground rules. Neither party should ever play boules without first informing the other. Neither party should look like a snake. Both parties must eat large quantities of sleeping cheese. Neither party should dip small ginger horses in honey and try to sell them to a blind jockey. Hope you can agree to these terms.
Our next gig has just been announced, details below. Buy cheap adv tickets for only £1.95 from this link + get a free vote for the cover song you'd like to hear played at the night!

Awesome set last night guys. really enjoyed it. It was nice to finally get to see a full set of yours. If you're about on August 27th we're playing at the Cellar. There's a chance it could be our last show because our bassist is heading off to Uni.... so we're all abit unsure on whats going to happen.
