At the turn of the century, one charming couple living in a tiny Miracle Mile apartment had a dream, altruistic tendencies & a second-hand silkscreen. Through much toil & glee, they have brought the world 8 years of Altru Apparel. Now a premier t-shirt gallery and hangered galaxy of visual culture, Altru still proudly brings you the very best in popular artwear.

Ever since those humble beginnings, founders Jonny & Suki Hughes have continued to collaborate with powerful orchestrators of our pop culture. Whether tomb raiding the New York Times' vault of photojournalism (including Obama!), getting rad riding the 5-0 grind with Thrasher Magazine, trucking along with lowbrow godfather R. Crumb, or shotputting the vintage Olympic poster-design collection, Altru dedicates itself to bringing you the very best of wearable visual culture. With Gold Medal standards of excellence, Altru's lookbook is an eye pleasing library of knit-bound icons.

And just before you assume that Altru's warehouse is simply a cool archive of retro Eveready Battery and 1984 Olympic tees, please note that the design team, now headed by Charlie Staunton (formerly of boutique favorite Brown Sound) and Kyle Maclachlan, continuously conjures up inspired graphics such as Summer 2009's California Dreamin' which is destined to become another hipster staple. Or will it be the Magritte versus fixed-gear bicycle mashup?

Either way, walk through any metropolitan area and eventually you will spot someone wearing Altru. Even television stylists choose to wardrobe their actors and hosts in Altru.
