…and explode was born in February of 2009. The brainchild of Kevann Carter, Geoff Buchan, Derek Wiens and Bobby Wiens, …and explode was the result of years of playing on their church worship teams together. Brought together by their love of music, they began writing songs right away. Within a month, they played their first show at their home church, and from that day, they were hooked. In February 2010, …and explode completed their line-up by adding permanent bassist, Daniel Kneeshaw. ...and explode is a female fronted, melodic post-hardcore band. In other words: they like to rock, and rock hard. Beginning as pop-punk band, their taste in music quickly matured and as a result, their sound evolved into something darker. Catchy pop riffs morphed into harmonic licks and pounding bass lines. Though their sound is dark, they make a conscious effort to keep their message honest and real. “Our lyrics are truth. Pure unadulterated truth. We write the things we feel, whether it’s jealousy or overwhelming contentedness. Our songs are about what it means to be human; nothing more, nothing less.” Says vocalist, Kevann Carter. The guys and girl of …and explode are all born and raised Christians, but choose not write anything that might be considered preachy. “We choose to show our faith through actions, rather than lyrics. We want anyone to be able to listen to our music, regardless of their situations or beliefs.” Says the band. Having won the Supernova Battle of the Bands City Finals in the summer of 2009, and successfully completing their first tour in the summer of 2010, …and explode’s popularity is growing quickly.
