My favourite nearest major city is Bremen (65 km). Unfortunately most bookers seem to know only these four towns in Germany (in this order): Berlin (400 km), Cologne (260 km), Munich (700 km) and Hamburg (180 km). So I'm lucky if I can go to Hamburg ;)
I had a concert marathon recently ... last Thursday I saw The Mary Onettes in Bielefeld (90 km), on Friday Editors in Bielefeld (again) and The Mary Onettes (again) in Hamburg on Saturday. Now I'm still recovering ;)
So Bielefeld is a good place for concerts, too. I met somebody there who organizes concerts.
