We Are Desire is a five-piece hardcore band hailing from Ann Arbor Michigan. The band originally spent several months jamming together and playing the occasional local show. Having stagnated somewhat when one of their guitarists went on tour in the summer as bassist for the popular Tooth and Nail/Solid State outfit August Burns Red, the members of the band reconvened in early October to discuss their plans for the future. Collectively deciding to pursue the band more seriously, they weeks later had a handful of new songs and plans to record an EP in January of ‘07.
We Are Desire practices in an unheated barn year-round, and during winter practices it is not uncommon to see the band sticking their fingers next to a space heater in the scant seconds before the next breakdown. We Are Desire is dedicated to their music, constantly in pursuit of ways to improve and surprise with their sound – a sort of tangled mixture of traditional hardcore/metalcore song structure wrapped around a fascination with post-rock rises and swells, as well as shoegaze ambient guitar noise. They play a convincing set of unrelenting pit-worthy epics – one of their songs, Mourning Drive, Evening Pursuit, clocks in at eleven minutes, stopping the violence with a jaunty guitar ditty just long enough to let the audience catch their breath, setting it on fire with post-thrash guitar and raging drums moments later.

i wore my we are desire t-shirt just yesterday. now i'm one of those creepy old dudes who wears shirts of bands that broke up in the 80's but is unable to move on. and it's your fault.

One of my friends is attending the show at Foggy Bottom through Facebook and so I checked it out and RSVP'd to attend... I really love your sound and im stoked for the show, can't wait! Plus I really like local music cause I myself am kinda trying to get some of my music out, so hearing the local bands and getting to know them is a top priority for me!
