Wavves is probably the most exciting project of the moment. Straight from San Diego, this newcomer is ready to run his own little revolution in the pop "lo-fi" garage world, but first, let's eat some veggie burrito with him...
Hi, can you first present yourself?
Yeah. Hi, I'm Nathan Williams. I am Wavves.
Can you explain us your production process, are you totally alone behind wavves, like jay reatard for instance ?
Yeah the production process is basically me by my lonesome in a sweaty garage screaming 'fuck you' at a bunch of broken instruments that don't work. All the writing/recording/performing is done by me. When I play live I have a couple of dudes to help me play the parts.
Your projects ?
I run a label called Ghost Ramp. Zines, and Cassettes, and vinyl stuff, but musically Wavves is my only project now. It consumes me and is one of the few things that makes me smile.
Do you got the feeling that you belong to a scene (garage noise scene) ?
Ya know, the 'scene' in san diego is primarily a 'garage' scene and I don't feel apart of it. I realize that the weird little clicks in this city have no merit in the bigger picture which is what I want to be apart of so I don't even bother. However people relate to my music, and classify it is fine, but most it's garage pop or beach punk or something like that. Don't really know what I would personally call it. I do however relate to bands like Jesus and the Mary Chain, Nirvana and Sonic Youth, the Wipers etc. etc. so take that for whatever it's worth.

What's your 3 favourite spot in the world ? Where would you bring us if we where in San diego today?
I haven't seen the world yet so I can't answer that question. Only place I've been outside of the US is Tijuana and normally you don't remember very much after those trips. The most redeeming quality of San Diego is the beach and the sun. It's beautiful. Oh and the mexican food. I lived in portland for a while and missed real mexican food so bad I had dreams about burritos on a regular basis. That's real.

Your 3 favourites animals?
Ya know what show I love? Is americas funniest animals. I watch it everyday, and so much of the show is recycled footage the show on tuesday will almost be identical to the show on wednesday. Luckily watching a horse kick someone is so entertaining I will be right in front of the tube both tuesday and wednesday. With three burritos in front of me.
