Diego Busked Cancer for Cancer Research UK
Sunday 25 July
Diego have taken part in Britain's biggest busking event and raised over £50 in Broadmead, Bristol. Thanks to the people of Bristol for your generosity and please continue to donate online for this great cause.
Diego was one of hundred of musicians, singers and street entertainers taking part in Busking Cancer, a nationwide 'gig' which runs throughout 2010, in aid of Cancer Research UK. It involves performers from all over the country.
Combine evocative lyrics with hypnotic harmonies and you have Diego. Described by Bristol's Venue magazine as “...a post-Coldsailorpatrol slice of twinkly, keening melodic indie-rock”, Diego have truly captivated audiences around the South West with their truly original and spell-binding music.
Hailing from the humble beginnings of Bristol's eclectic open mic scene, Diego have evolved into a richer, rockier and intensely sensorial sounding five-piece hotly tipped to be the ones to watch:
"...judging from these early signs, Diego has the potential for great things. Make a note of the name and keep your eye on them for the future." - Louder Than The Music.com (read full EP review here)
In April 2010 the track 'Another Place' from their debut Surrendered EP reached number one in The Official Unsigned Chart Show with Junior Saunders – the forefront of new talent in the region. The summer of 2010 will see the release of their eagerly anticipated follow-up Escape EP coupled with a UK tour.
“My personal favourite indie band of all time and I genuinely mean that... if you have a passion for indie music, check these guys out live - they are absolutely incredible.” - Junior Saunders on Ujima Radio (now on BCfm 93.2)
"Spacious, shimmering, anthemic rock... stately, wide-eyed pop that never loses sight of a tune in its quest for the epic... Music to watch planets to."4/5 stars - Venue magazine (read full EP review by Steve Wright)
"Their original songwriting and exceptional musicianship make them stand out from the crowd of new bands on the block" - Scrumpy 'n' Western magazine
