Gone For Good is a rock 'n' roll band out of Connecticut. The band boasts a modern sound with classic overtones, taking cues from every decade of rock 'n' roll. With the crunch of Queens Of The Stone Age, the rockabilly edge of The Stray Cats, the pop sound of Supergrass and the moodiness of The Doors, it's no wonder people that see this band live never know how to pinpoint their sound, except by simply saying "rock 'n' roll."
The band self-released their demo EP, The Drawing Board, in October and have been playing in support of that release, opening for the likes of Oxford Collapse, Slim Cessna's Auto Club and more. They are currently in the studio with Andy Stackpole (Mos Def, Bad Brains, Living Colour) this October to record their debut EP proper. In the meantime, they will be making the rounds throughout the Northeast, with a proper release and tour scheduled for early winter '09.
"Out of nowhere, it seems, New London's Gone for Good have exploded on the local rock scene like Pete Doherty's latest promise to complete rehab. A power trio stylistically painted in the day-glow tones of every great rock influence... Their material ranges from “Old Seat,” which sounds like a mournful Jim Morrison whistling a theme for a Morricone soundtrack, to “Happy,” a rave-up you'd expect if the Reverend Horton Heat was fronting the Boxtops."- Rick Koster, The Day

Hey guys...I just wanted to leave a lil sumthing on your page for Josh. Im sure it hurts to repeatedly be reminded that he's gone, but I hope at the same time, it makes you happy to know that you guys were SO close to one of the most UNBELIEVABLE persons i've EVER met. Josh will forever be missed and loved and I think about him every single day. I hate that he's gone. I still feel like he's around, maybe on vacation, just havent spoken to him in a while...its just too wierd and not REAL. I hate that I cannot call him and just hear his voice. I cant even imagine the hurt you guys feel. I just cant. I was just thinking alot about him today and I wanted to release some of my sadness, listen to you're music and write a lil sumthing. It puts a smile on my face every time I listen to your songs. You guys are great. Like I said, im sorry to write this all on here, but I never really get onto my Myspace too often and never sent Josh a request, so unfortunately I cant write onto his page. But, Please do me a fav, and let us all know when the CD gets released. I want to have a copy to jam out with every time I take a ride.... Thanks, and keep your heads up guys. We all miss him. Dearly.
when i talked to josh last week he was beyond excited for the CD. keep your heads up, and just know that he is keeping an eye on everyone. if i can help you guys with anything, feel free. <3
Guys, here are the lyrics to a Grateful Dead song that I find comforting in times like this. Phil Lesh wrote these words for his mom after his dad died. Or so the story goes. I hope they help ease the pain.
A BOX OF RAIN
Look out of any window, any morning, any evening, any day. Maybe the sun is shining, birds are singing, No rain is falling from a heavy sky. What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? For this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.
Walk out of any doorway, feel your way, feel your way like the day before. Maybe youll find direction, Around some corner where its been waiting to meet you. What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you are sleeping? The please dont be surprised when you find me dreaming too.
Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear to another day, Maybe been seen before, through other eyes on other days while going home. What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? Its all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.
Walk into splintered sunlight, Inch your way through dead dreams to another land. Maybe youre tired and broken, Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear
What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through.
Just a box of rain, wind and water, Sun and shower, wind and rain, In and out the window like a moth before a flame.
And its just a box of rain, I dont know who put it there, Believe it if you need it, or leave it if you dare.
And its just a box of rain, or a ribbon for your hair; Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.
