"Capitals". The name took long enough to come up with, the line up took even longer! Formed in 2007 with former members of Days Ago, The Mock Heroic and Suffer Like G Did four London beards decided it was time to make a little bit of music. We use guitars and drums and some la-la-la and have commenced work on making these instruments sound good in bedroom/car/utility room speakers. We hope to play shows and record songs, maybe even dress like wizards in the process. We like coffee and buns, if you would like to buy us some then feel free. Please keep checking back for audio goodness and live dates.
CAPITALS
PRESS
"Formed from the ashes of Norwich heroes Days Ago come Capitals; muscular, punishing and musically insane. With practically zero coherence beyond a spirit of 'Hey, let's chuck this lightening-quick riff over some jagged time signatures and then cut it all out in a split-second', in the four minutes of 'This Is What Happens Whaen Oh Dear Hits You In The Face' there are more good ideas than a roomful of scientists planning to immolate Bono". NME
"But next, the first ever performance from band formerly known as Days Ago, Capitals. Blowing away – no, eviscerating – the cobwebs that have grown over months of inactivity they are a flurry of violent angles, all sharp edges and brutal riffs. Despite frontman Ivano only spending a song and a half onstage and practically no time whatsoever facing the considerable crowd they are a beautiful mix of We Are The Romans-era Botch and the frenzied, shrill yelps of Glassjaw’s first album. No band this new has any right to be this good – they’re raw to the point of practically dripping with blood. Now all they need to do is record some songs and they’ll no doubt turn into one of those bands people don’t like, but adore". DROWNED IN SOUND
"Ever since the untimely demise of Days Ago last year, many have been keeping a keen eye on the next development from the camp. Featuring former members of The Mock Heroic, Suffer Like G Did and half of the aforementioned post-hardcore mob, Capitals may only be a band in their infancy - so much so that this evening they only play three of their own works - but it's still safe to say the future looks extremely promising for the four-piece. Perfectly blending jarring angular guitars and the soaring melodies of vocalist Ivano, hugely impressive closing number 'Lions' proves beyond any doubt that Capitals are a band well capable of surpassing former glories". ROCK MIDGETS
"Despite this being billed as a 'Pre-Summer' event, temperatures in the cosy live room above the Enterprise pub have reached flopsweat-inducing levels even before post-hardcore supergroup Capitals quite literally take the floor.
Judging from front man Ivano's slithery, convulsive dancing, confining this band to the tiny stage would have breached health and safety regulations. After casually kicking over a mic stand, he proceeds to two-step, leap around, sneer and snarl, all the while turning his back to the audience.
The foursome couldn't be more intense if they plonked you in front of the drum kit and played into your face. Arisen from the ashes of, among others, Days Ago, Capitals mould Refused's cutthroat riffs and Meet Me In St Louis's outlandish time signatures together into shapes just about tangible enough for listeners not to be put off".
