Sounds Like
"In the past twelve months, Kowalski grown into something huge, a cocky, four headed monster, armed with the best voice in the country, as full a sound as humanely possible and tunes to batter us into submission....here they are, fully blossomed, with a gaggle of screaming girls in tow and confidence seemingly sky high. The racks of keyboards build a wall of sound that only singer Louis can break through..."
"Balloons, fairy lights and pretty boys, a Kowalski gig make, plus a fistful of songs that are thoughtful and well crafted....It seems Arcade Fire and Death Cab For Cutie have spread their seed wisely"
"This band has a real grasp of songwriting dynamics, the tracks building deftly, the individual constituents conjoining to create a sense of urgency, crafting a heart enmeshing whole.....Are You Noisy Sunshine State? is an impressive statement of intent, the kind of record you want to listen to again and often."- Fra Jones CNI
..
" Their songs are short, catchy, and to
the point, with a certain Bloc Party-ness about them, but with touches of
Arcade Fire and Hope Of The States mixed in for good measure."
Kowalski formed in March 2005 at the tender of ages of 16 and 17. In June 2006 they released their debut E.P "Are You Noisy Sunshine State?" to much acclaim and fanfare selling out Auntie Annies Bar in Belfast after only 6 motnhs of actively gigging. The gigs got bigger, the fans got louder and the band got tighter.
They were then asked to support Air Traffic for a month on tour in October, so off they went fresh out of school in a beat up old Transit Van with only 3 seats! Up, Down and Across the UK. This tour went very well and they were asked to support them again in January 2007 across Ireland.
2007 brought more shows and even bigger support slots with the lads supporting Editors and Snow Patrol throughtout the year. With the crowning moment coming in December after they had released download only single "Oh My Good God", Kowalski became the first local headliners to sell out the Limelight bar in Belfast in a long, long time and were also voted in the Top 3 Northern Irish Bands of The Year by BBC's Across The Line.
2008 brought the bands third birthday as well shows in Scotland and some more to the great crowds of Ireland supporting Athlete. Later in the year they also went on to play with the Go!Team, Los Campesinos and The Zutons. They then purchased lots of old analogue organs and synths and became a funeral parlour version of the band Genesis.
2009 finds the lads ready to release a trilogy of Singles in the latter half of the year which they are currently recording themselves in a studio after hours . They've burnt all their organs.
