Like Diamonds was formed by songwriter Luka Tacon, multi-instrumentalist David Kiss and drummer Justin Hofmann. The trio began to experiment with arrangements and instrumentation of songs written by Tacon; while they searched for new members, which led them to producer Dub Sonata, and percussionist Brenden Tacon, both of whom eventually joined the band. The indie-rock sound the band had originally sought after was cast aside as they pursued a new direction that melded a variety of genres including rock, electro, hip-hop, and disco. After months of rehearsing and crafting their sound, and with the addition of bassist Gil Dekel, they were content. They booked a few shows that included an intimate debut in New York City and a slot at the electronic music festival Camp Bisco 9, which was followed by a short tour through the north and southeast of the US. The band performed for audiences that were captured by their fresh approach to pop music and the passion with which they played. They returned to Brooklyn to begin recording a full length album which will be out in 2011.
