After moving from cold, cold Melbourne Nathaniel formed Our Husband with Freya, an established musician within the Adelaide "Tweed Pop" scene. With intentions to stray from the currently popular "Doe eyed" genre of folk, Our Husband write decisively more abrasive pop songs with country and soft rock influence. .. .. .. .. .. "It almost sounds like a less reverb-soaked Beach House in parts, with a buoyant vibe all over it. The song reminds me of something else as well for the life of me I cannot pick it. Anyway, its pretty tops." ..Purple Prose .. .. .. "I just got an e-mail from this new Australian oufit Our Husband. I don't like most of the stuff I get sent but somehow I liked this. Maybe a bit twee but lovely." ..Dalston Oxfam Shop .. "This is music that you should definitely listen to if you like any of the following: boy/girl groups, grizzly bear-esque instrumentation, anything with echo and reverb, minimalistic lyrics, Beach House, haunting vocals, twangy guitar and sharp, clean sounds....With a band that have only two tracks to show, the future looks very promising." .. Alexis Avett, Word on the Street .. "Our Husband is a new side limb for Nathaniel Morse of Adelaide band Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! and Freya Adele formerly of now defunct act Bing Goes to Monaco. Woodland hymnals for melody lines, tangles of glistening guitar, Villages carves another elegant figure into the realm of narcoticised folk-pop. Freya’s spectral vocals add to the thoughtful construction of this track, leaving you feeling as if you’ve had your head immersed in a jar of liquid hydrogen for a week. Villages works as a solid opening track, but seems incomplete in it’s wider narrative scheme. Our Husband’s debut will be released later on in the year, so for now, this has to suffice on repeat. If you’re into Beach House, you’ll like this. Definitely giving Big Scary a run for their money on my list of top local acts this year so far. .. Melissa Tan, whothehell.net ..
