In the midst of Wearside's new post-punk revolution, an alliance is bringing forward a post-funk uprising with Seventythree at the helm. With the soulful sextets head and mind in history, feet to the floor, and eyes to the future, audiences are suddenly discovering how much fun it is to dance. As bandwagoners and pigeonhole fetishists work feverishly to position the tongue-in-cheek wordplay and gritty leftfield grooves, Seventythree continue to advance the dual lessons of individuality and accessibility gleaned from the Seventies.
Seventythree released their first single, Team Spirit on cd & limited edition 7" vinyl in October 2005, it was produced by Smoove of Acid Jazz Records. The cd also contains 'Mad Professor' and a re-mix of 'Team Spirit'. A further limited edition 7" is happy to also hold on it an acoustic mix of 'Mad Professor'. 3rd Single 'Heavenly' and its 2 remixes are also available on 12", CD or to download.

Jay Collins and Mark Wagstaff AKA The Funk Junkies are Djs, producers and promoters from the north of England. Their club event 'charged' is one of the UK's fastest growing house brands throwing regular sell out parties across England, Malta and Ibiza. Last year saw the guys move up a gear and begin producing. In little under 12 months their productions have gained support from the likes of Steve Angello, Deepgroove, Sonny Wharton and more. The Funk Junkies first release on Elektriqa is a double A side. First up is Fragile, a peak time record with a simple yet hypnotic riff that definitely crosses musical boundaries. Gush, on the other hand is a dubby, twisted progressive house bomb graced with a tight and catchy lead. Keep an eye out for more Funk Junkies productions forthcoming on Elektriqa.
