SOUTHERN GLORY HISTORY -
Brian Taylor (the drummer) and Scott Kinsel (the bass player) first met at Wal*Mart. Scott's then girlfriend and now wife, Darla, and Brian worked together in the automotive department back in 1992. The two musicians hit it off and soon the opportunity arose for Brian to join Scott in a church praise team. They played in that band for about 5-6 years. Job commitments and ministry fatigue took its toll on both of them. Brian left the band, and also Scott a few years later. About two years later, Rex Keating (the guitar player) met Scott at a biker church where Rex was the worship leader. Rex invited Scott to band practice where they immediately "clicked". Scott joined Rex and they played in that band for two years. Scott left that band and left the Lord for about two years. Brian was reunited with Scott in a praise team at a little church. About a year and a half passed and once again job commitments and ministry fatigue separated the two. Scott left the praise team not long after Brian. Scott had not visited with Rex in about a year. Then one day Scott called Rex to see if he would be willing to jam sometime. Rex was astonished by the call because at the very moment Scott called, Rex was just about to call Scott and ask him the very same thing. Meanwhile Scott bought a home which happened to be a block away from Brian. Brian drove over to Scott's house one day for a surprise visit and expressed an interest to jam sometime. It happened to be the same day that Scott had called Rex. Within minutes the three musicians "clicked" and their intense God-given creativity burst into motion. Many song ideas started pouring through all three of them and they just couldn't believe what was happening. After a few more jam sessions, they realized God had put them together for a reason. Then, Scott received a call from his cousin, Pastor Troy Way, who had also played on a praise team with Scott and Brian. Pastor Troy told scott about a guy at his church named Jamin Reither (lead vocals) who had some raw singing talent. This call was no coincidence. Scott received Jamin's contact info and invited him to a jam session with he, Rex, and Brian. Jamin was not really interested in attending a jam session due to his heavy involvement with martial arts. However, when the "jam day" arrived, Jamin felt an overwhelming prodding by the Lord to go to the jam session instead of martial arts class. After Jamin arrived at Scott's house, the four men wrote their first song within 5 minutes. Talk about "clicking"!!! The four soon realized the significance of their coming together. Never in all of their lives had the men been in a group where such incredible original material was so prolific. Not long after that, Rex was contacted by a friend about a youth rally in Hondo, Texas and invited the "jam band" to play there. The four men decided on the name "Southern Glory" for their band. They played their own unique style of gospel music which incorporated classic rock, southern rock, and R&B. The response was overwhelming and God blessed Southern Glory. Their phones haven't stopped ringing!!! They continue to remain humble while always giving God the glory for: their talents, their abundance of original material, their families, and each other. Southern Glory is just a "man-given" name for a "God-given" mission. They believe that God came to change your heart, He didn't come to change your style. One thing is for sure, no matter what type of music it falls in, you can praise and worship God. Not because you are worthy, but because He is worthy. So Don't Hold Back!!!

GOOD NEWS FOR YOUR WEEK TGIM! - Thank God It's Monday!
THE WORD IS: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Psalms 23:6
THE POINT IS: Surely! David had a definite assurance of God's perpetual care of Him. God's track record was excellent! He had proven His faithfulness by taking care of the lion, the bear, the giant and everything else in David's life. David summed it up as God's goodness and mercy. It was mercy because he didn't deserve it. After all, David had been just another dumb and wayward sheep. Aren't we all? Thankfully, it doesn't depend on our goodness. Only God is good! He delights in showering His goodness upon those who will receive it.
THE APPLICATION IS: You too can be a recipient of God's goodness and mercy. It begins by receiving the source of goodness, Jesus Christ, into your life. Then you must submit to His Lordship so that He can lead you according to His goodness and mercy. As you follow the Lord, His goodness and mercy will follow you. God offers a lifetime guarantee - His goodness and mercy for the rest of your life. So rest assured!
