The Blacklist plays "Alone" at The Polk Theatre
The Blacklist is going to be heading to the recording studio soon to record an EP. We are in the fun and argumentative process of choosing which of our original songs to record. If you have been coming to the shows or following our band for awhile, you may have some favorite songs. Please let us know your favorites and we will take this into consideration in choosing which songs to record (as in: "I'm not buying their cd unless " " is on it").
Here is a list of the choices in no particular order:
Wake Up,
The Blacklist,
My Head is in the Sun,
Fly,
Shadow Dumping Ground,
Alone,
Rusty Strings,
Square Root of My Love,
Bloody Fingers (Better Off Alone),
Into the Mind,
Like it Was Yesterday,
Let it All Blow Away,
The Marshmellow Song.
Let us know what you think.
The Blacklist Performs "Rusty Strings" at Lucky's
The Blacklist was formed by former music students from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Its members, all veterans of the Florida music scene, envisioned an original modern hard rock sound driven by churning riffs and overlaid with crystalline harmonic soundscapes. The Blacklist’s influences range from classical and jazz, to psychedelia, punk, and metal. Regardless of style, the foundation of the band is solid song writing. The songs’ lyrical themes run from dark to humorous. Drawing on the originality of its members, the band is able to streamline this eclectic brew into a heavy, but melodic style, free of pretense or limitations.
Vocalist Lisa Parker performed as part of the “Stars of Tomorrow” showcase in the Orlando area before joining the rock act Electric Pilot. Brothers Daniel and Jason Parker were the guitarist and bassist, respectively, as well as vocalists in Electric Pilot. The Parkers reunited to play several acoustic shows under the name The Blacklist. The shows developed such a following that it was decided that the band should continue as a rock act. The Blacklist added drummer Chris Moore (formerly of Solaris) and guitarist Anthony Flanagan to complete the band. The positive chemistry could be felt by all of the members in the first few rehearsals and the prospects for The Blacklist seemed promising.
The Blacklist has developed a solid local following and seeks to build its fan base throughout Florida. The group is in the process of booking shows for 2009.
