    ..In a world of debt, unemployment and Justin Bieber, 5 men from Southampton fell together and formed a band. The band started after they all met at one of those standard open mic nights held in every bar these days. After falling in love with each others songs, the guys began writting their own brand of music, mixing all the styles they collectivly admired. And this is how 'Geek-Hop' was born... Three months of rehearsals later, the band took on the local scene. Within three more months, they headlined and sold out their home venue, The Joiners, a 250 cap' venue. Following that performance, the guys were asked to play at the Uni freshers ball at Southampton Guildhall (1,700 cap). Next came a year of trying to break out of the South and playing support shows with the likes of Tine Tempah, Guru, Iglu & Hartly, Kid British and Akil the MC from Jurassic 5... Between their jobs(ranging from Tescos shelf-stacker to Professor of Engineering) THE COMMON began to demo songs after many angry fans wanted something to take home after shows. Next comes taking 'Geek-hop' to the nation... THE COMMON mixed the basic rules of indie, hip-hop & rock. And yet while other rappers sing about women & money, singer Mike Brown wrote about what he knew best. Being a skint student, evading sobriete and more importantly...cult movies & comic books. On paper people may have said it wouldn't have worked...But, it did.
