| About We Are The Music Makers |
We Are The Music Makers was founded during the winter of 2005 by Adam Castro (Bass) and Mike Chierchio (Drums). They began jamming together in Third Rail Studio's, a Brooklyn based venue/rehearsal studio founded by Mike Chierchio. As their jamming progessed into deeper music with strong song structures they decided to take the jams to the next level and make the band offiical. Thus, Mike Calabrese was called onto the scene for guitar duties. Due to the lack of ability to find a proper lead vocalist as a fourth member, Mike Calabrese took on vocals as well as lead guitar. They recorded their first album with Russ Mitkowski in the summer of 2005, entitled "I Had Some Dreams", which was never distributed to the public. They later established a new set of material which led to the recording of their debut EP, also entitled "I Had Some Dreams". Their first EP was released during the winter of 2006.
Shortly after the release of their first EP, Chierchio had to take leave of the thrown due to obligations on the set for another Brooklyn based band called Never Say Die. Left without a drummer, Castro and Calabrese dabbled with many a musician looking to start up a new project. Before long, a new band indeed surfaced during the summer of 2006. The new group consisted of original members Castro and Calabrese as well as the addition of a new guitarist, Philly Salvagione, and new drummer Russ Mitkowski. Originally entitled Ecumenopolis, the group later agreed to become We Are The Music Makers and embarked on a 16 day tour of the US during the winter of 2007.
After their first tour, the band slowly began to seperate again, but more vague and unofficial. Since then, the band has been on hiatus, leaving the members to work on other projects that has been established throughout the elapsed time.
Philly Salvagione now plays in the progressive grunge metal band Scribes of Fire.
Russ Mitkowski now plays in the reggae band Under The Rastah Influence.
