Free Dinosaur Jr. Tickets! The first 50 people to show up to Music At Fuel on Thursday will receive free tickets to the Dinosaur Jr. and Dr. Dog show on September 4th at the Troc. 05.24.07 Tomorrow! Don't forget that tomorrow is going to be the birthday party of the century. The Bee Team is having their record pre-release show at World Cafe Live. Not only will you get a kick-ass show, but you'll receive a limited edition, pre-release copy of their debut full-length album, "Hot Times USA," a month before it's released. You know you want it... 05.16.07 Name change! The Bees and the Birds have officially changed their name to "The Bee Team" The old name was just a little too confusing, and they wanted to avoid legal issues. Make sure to make it to the record pre-release show on May 25th at World Cafe Live! You'll get a pre-release copy of their debut full-length, "Hot Times USA" and a bangin' good time. 05.03.07 The Bee Team(formerly Bees and the Birds) are almost done recording and mixing their full length album, "Hot Times USA." Their record pre-release show will be May 25th at World Cafe Live. The album will be jointly released by Our Neighborhood Records, and Drexel's new digital label, D3. Each one will come in a unique, hand screen-printed digipack. Pre-orders will be available soon on the ONR Myspace page and website. If you want to help promote shows, give us your information so we can get a hold of you when there's a show in your city. (You aren't required to give us all the information. Just make sure we're able to get a hold of you quick.  We are music fans. We support independent musicians by promoting and supporting them. We post posters, we hand out flyers, we stick stickers, and spread the word.
Our goal is to help DIY bands gain the recognition they deserve.
We work with Our Neighborhood records, home of Street Smart Cyclist and The Bee Team. If you love independent music, check out these bands, and   BIOGRAPHY: Chrissy likes girls. Josh likes girls too. They are in a band together that plays music that is fun and honest. They are the The Bee Team, and they're from Philadelphia, PA. This folk/pop/rock band is fundamentally raw and charming. They have melodic and intimate harmonies with warm, pure, and honest composition. They blend good times, rock and roll, banjos, slide guitars, and cute guy and girl tradeoffs into one giant bowl of tasty goodness. Kind of like the illegitimate love child of Mates Of State and Bright Eyes, mixed with lemonade.The Bee Team came together from a number of different bands. Josh was in Triumph and Treason. and Chrissy was in The March Hare. When these two bands began playing shows together, Josh and Chrissy developed a bond. Chrissy was also in another acoustic band, The Untouchables. When the male vocalist could not play, Josh stood in, and they liked the sound. From there they broughgt in Joe Sanford and Helene Nicole, some older bandmates of Josh's, and Chrissy's brother, Mike, to form the The Bee Team. The Bee Team have already acquired a large following of fans. Their shows are fun, happy, and interactive with lots of dancing and singing. The The Bee Team are: Josh Craft- Guitar/vox Chrissy Tashjian - Bass/vox Mike Tashjian - Drums Kevin Gallagher- Slide Guitar Sean Cox - Banjo BIOGRAPHY: Sentimental admirers of blustery fall weather, basement shows, and late night Denny's, Street Smart Cyclist are a 6- piece band from Bethlehem, a sleepy town in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley north of Philadelphia. Bethlehem has produced many notable artists such as Pearls and Brass, Ultimate Warriors, Weston, Carpenter Ant, Pissed Jeans, and Gatecrashers, primarily hardcore and grindcore bands, which the members of SSC enjoy and admire. Indeed, most of SSC have played in hardcore, screamo, and noise bands themselves.The Cyclist began as more of a side project of longtime friends previously in local bands Audio Recording Club, Harrison Bergeron, Storm the Bastille, and the Rocket Arcadia. They came together out of a common and principled affection for each other's bands, beards, flannel, and raucous music that simultaneously combines emotional honesty, progressive (read: quirky and at times awkward) composition, and a heavily melodic core. It has slowly become their main priority as they discovered how much more fun it is to bring the energy, emotion, and all out ruckus of louder, more dissonant styles of punk music to a style that is brighter, more optimistic, and all-around fun. Emo, in its change (mostly in nomenclature, through a series of mischaracterizations) from a gloomy, spastic afterthought of hardcore punk, to a more accessible pop-ified sub-sect of indie rock, paused momen- tarily in a really satisfying place with bands like Cap'n Jazz, Christie Front Drive, Mineral, and Boys Life. This band cannot shake off accusations of heavily drawing from this period of pop Renaissance where the afore- mentioned energy and drive of hardcore intersected optimally with the progressive and aesthetically bright and beautiful properties of indie rock and pop. The band's members tip their hats to many of their favorite genres, haphazardly, yet tastefully, synthesizing elements of early emo/screamo ala Indian Summer and Moss Icon, the twinkly mid-western emo of American Football and Ghosts and Vodka, and melodic hardcore in the vein of Dillinger Four and Funeral Oration to create an infectious mess that transitions seamlessly from calculated algebra-inspired grooves to joyous chaos held together by massive group sing-alongs.
