Americana Music Fest 2008

Aug 11 2008 6:48 PM

What is the Audio Spectrum Family Reunion?

In a nutshell, the reunion is a chance for anybody interested Americana music, especially Cleveland based Americana music, to get together and share common interests and experiences. Too many times, artists are too busy or distracted to stop and take advantage of the small but energetic network of like minded musicians in the city.

The family reunion has its roots in the original roots jam night that Clint Holley created over three years ago at a small eatery called the Town Fryer. Musicians from all over the city joined together and spent some really fines times together. After over a hundred shows and a decision to complete his education, Clint stopped the popular jam night and the Americana scene fragmented once again.

The family reunion is an effort once again to bring people together for the cause of music! Come to Prosperity Social Club (1109 Starkweather) on August 28th, 2008 for a very special event.

A mix and mingle happy hour with free appetizers from 7pm-9pm! (What musician doesn't like free food!)
A very special performance of Bob Lanphier and the Bitter Disapointments starting @ 9pm.
Bob will have a very limited number of copies of his brand new record availible for 10 dollars!

Musicians, bring your card and/or some music.
Meet new people! See your old pals! Happy Hour Beer Specials until 9pm!
DRinkIn' In CLevELanD!

Hello Vital Mines, I find you "Finding America pictures very good however I have to ask what have you done to poor John's face. Did you have an accident that deformed it. I hope this is only a temporary condition. It looks like his face was molded from Playdo by a drunken child. I fear something harmful has come to him. An excellent quote by Crazy Horse too, I believe I read somewhere that he was one of the few, if not the only native american leader, to have never signed any type of treaty or agreement. Good for him, eh? Hope all is well.

Humbly,
Babakar

Got a bulletin on the media from Dennis Kucinich, thought you might find it interesting. I cut and paste it from the bulletin here it is:

Blackout
Things Your Media Momma Didn't Tell You

By DAVE LINDORFF

The fact that most Americans oppose the war in Iraq, and want the president impeached, is testimony to the native intelligence and common sense of the citizens of this nation.

It sure isn't thanks to the quality of the news we're getting here in America.!

Here are some of the things you don't know if you just depend on the corporate media for your information:

1. Most Americans would like to see this president and vice president impeached and removed from office. Newsweek magazine published a scientific poll last October showing that 51 percent of us favor impeachment (including 29 percent of Republicans!), but the corporate media, which normally hasn't met a poll it won't publish, didn't publicize this one. And now, when the numbers supporting impeachment are surely even higher, you can't even pay a polling outfit to ask the question. No wonder most people who favor impeachment still think they're odd ducks.

2. There is a bill, filed in the House of Representatives on April 24 by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), calling for the impeachment of Vice President Cheney. Since it was filed, it has gained six co-sponsors, including a member of the House Democratic leadership, Rep. Janice Shakowsky (D-IL). Most major media have ignored this important story completely. Most Americans also don't know that the Vermont State Senate voted overwhelmingly this spring to call on Congress to impeach the president.

3. The president has been declared a felon in federal court. Yet even after Federal District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor ruled last August that President Bush and the National Security Agency were committing serial Class A felonies and were violating both the First and Fourth Amendments by spying on America

There are two things wrong with this page. Firstly, I look ugly in all the photos I appear in, and secondly, shouldn't I get listed as at least an "honorary" band member? Jeesh...
Anyway, see you at practice tomorrow.
