About me:
We are Malachai - makers of handcrafted indie clothing.
Here to make fun, independent, 100% sweatshop free fashion pieces for the world. Driven by the overwhleming commercialism in fashion these days, and Malachai strive to make pieces that are clearly different.
Inspired by art; inspired by music; inspired by the people found within art and music. We believe that popular fashion has always been led not by the runway, but by the styles of the underground found at shows, clubs, galleries and sidestreets the globe over.
The Malachai operation was started in a Victoria-based basement suite, spray-painting and silkscreening by hand, but when demand became too much, op's were moved to a newer, larger facility. This way, Malachai can produce higher quality pieces, a larger range of ideas, and greater quantity to meet the demand.
Currently, Malachai is run by a small group known as Branden, Damien, Nicole, and Angela. Angela has recently made her way to Florence, Italy, where she is attending high-class fashion school, Polimoda. Wishing her the best of luck there, we look forward to her constant blogging at The Malazine on the things she sees in Italy - from the newest fashions to the latest street trends. Angela is the best, so make sure to say hi to her.
