The Weather are a 3 piece band, 2 parts from Tameside & 1 from Holmfirth.. In 2001, Singer and songwriter, Chris Cyprus formed the group with bassist Steven Hancock. Originaly just writing, and playing accoustic gigs for a laugh. One night they played in Huddersfield where they met up with Drummer, Dan Hough. Chris had already been in a band with Dan a few years previously. Chris and Ste were'nt looking for a drummer at the time, but Dan insisted that they needed one, so he joined in 2004.
The original idea for a name was ..The Weather Underground.. they were an American Political Activists group from the 60..s? That was later shortened to .'The Weather'.. (everybody talks about it!) 'The Weather' have recently finished their third CD 'The Shape of Things' wich they are very proud of making. In 2007 they played many gig's including a support with Ocean Colour Scene. 2008, kiked off in January with a LIVE recording for Artboo TV wich will broardcast in Feb, on SKY channel RED. They hope to be back in the studio soon as they have loads of NEW material to record! They have a gig with DODGY in March, then they are off to Germany for a tour in July. As a group, they have never 'chased rainbows' for want of a better word, or followed the current trends that a lot of 'industry' bands seems to be playing. Their ecclectic styles of music range from country to blues to full on 'dirt' and quirky 'Pop' That is their strength and appeal, and they strongly believe in their Music. So keep checking the forecast!
