The Revolution's Interests
|
| General | Trine University’s own radio station, playing unique, eclectic music uninterrupted. On air since 1977, WEAX’s new music format, dubbed “The Revolution,” offers edgy, underground listening as an option for this peaceful college town. About the Revolution
In a time of universal deceit,
telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.
- George Orwell
Modern terrestrial radio has become like fast food – same songs, same formats in every town. Above all else WEAX prides itself on being different.
Our mix of music is modeled after the first “alternative” radio stations of the late 80’s and early 90’s, a time when “alternative” simply meant “not quite mainstream.” Tori Amos and R.E.M. had a home right next to Green Day and The Cure. It was a big tent, and a lot of diverse artists were invited in. But, as playlists got shorter and formats got focus-grouped to death, the big tent got smaller and smaller.
We’re bringing it back.
