About the Revolution

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. - George Orwell Modern terrestrial radio has become like fast food – same songs, same formats in every town. Above all else WEAX prides itself on being different.

Our mix of music is modeled after the first “alternative” radio stations of the late 80’s and early 90’s, a time when “alternative” simply meant “not quite mainstream.” Tori Amos and R.E.M. had a home right next to Green Day and The Cure. It was a big tent, and a lot of diverse artists were invited in. But, as playlists got shorter and formats got focus-grouped to death, the big tent got smaller and smaller.

We’re bringing it back.

Why listen to any station other then 88x? Do people really like listening to bad music? I personally only let my ears hear the best…WEAX!

88X is the best radio station ever. Unequivocally. Yesterday they played the Shins directly followed by the Clash. I had an eargasm. Yes, you read that right. An eargasm.

Thanks for kicking so much ass.
