We all have parts of our past that we're not proud of: We were band geeks, choir dorks, mathletes and computer game nerds. If you were as lucky as us, perhaps you even donned yourselves in neckerchiefs and merit badges and sold stale popcorn on Main Street. Yet, there's something magical about those awkward, simpler times, and for those ready to embrace who they are, we at The Webelos salute you! Being a Webelo means being loyal to music that stays true to its roots. A Webelo honors thy forefathers of rock, and fights the good fight against music that is increasingly either generic or esoteric. A Webelo is always prepared to defend the right to like music that is actually catchy and hook-laden. And for those still clinging to their cans of PBR, it's ok to like music that makes sense...scout's honor. .... The Webelos fire was kindled in 2009 when four of Chicago's pop rock veterans tucked away in the studio to create something truly unique. At the time, Brendan of The Ivorys and Danny of The Foster-Walker Complex were disillusioned with the scene's dispersal towards music that was inaccessible and meandering. They knew they had songs with jangle power; songs with hooks that were destined to nest themselves in the minds of the masses. With a mixing and production team that included Bill Prokopow of I Fight Dragons, they emerged with their debut EP, Model Citizen. Soon after, The Webelos welcomed Lennie of The Ladies and Gentleman on lead guitar and Neil of The Clergymen on bass to secure a true supergroup. Thanks to their infectious hooks and raucous live show, The Webelos have been garnering acclaim from scouts in Chicago and all across the world.
