Other than music, movies, television and books (which are in fact my favorite things) ... I also enjoy photography, Pilates, cooking, traveling, eating, roller blading, and texting. Is texting a hobby? I think so. Oh and my dog Roxy!
Music
The first record I owned was John Denver's Greatest Hits. My first concert was Amy Grant. I was a fan of New Kids on the Block, then I started listening to dc talk nonstop, and I went on to love and adore Extreme. Yep, "More Than Words" Extreme. Still do actually, now that they have reunited. I loved Switchfoot since the first time I heard them play live, opening for Third Day. I've been a pretty big fan of Relient K since the release of mmhmm which I'm pretty sure is the best album title ever. Right now I'm really into House of Heroes, Mat Kearney and Francesca Battistelli.
Movies
I'm a sucker for chick flicks especially Clueless, Pretty Woman, 10 Things I Hate About You, Notting Hill, Jerry Maguire, How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days, The Notebook, and The Holiday. I also love Shrek 2, A Knight's Tale, Serenity, Amazing Grace and every single Pixar movie because, well, Pixar rules.
Television
Anything Joss Whedon touches - currently DOLLHOUSE. I limit my reality TV to American Idol & So You Think You Can Dance. I DVR these shows: CSI, CSI: Miami, Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, House, Bones and the current fave - wait for it - How I Met Your Mother.
Books
It's so much easier to just list authors I like: Stephen King, Clive Cussler, Anne Rice, John Grisham, Dennis Lehane, Robin Jones Gunn, Christa Banister, Robin Lee Hatcher, Frank Peretti, Oscar Wilde. I also get a lot of magazines and have a hard time throwing them away. Right now Entertainment Weekly and Popular Photography are my favorites.
Heroes
Joss Whedon, Toby McKeehan, my dad, my husband and a few of my friends who would probably be weirded out if I listed them here.
About me: Who I Am
I am originally from southern California but I have also lived in Hawaii, Georgia, Tennessee, Holland and Spain. I am opinionated, stubborn and sarcastic but also open, sensitive and sweet. I drive a sports car. If I could have a super power, I would want to fly. I collect frogs - in fact one of my tattoos is a tree frog. I am married to my best friend, a better husband than I could have ever dreamed up. I have an amazing family, awesome friends and also have the honor to work with some incredible people. I absolutely love Nashville but I will always be a California girl at heart.
What I Do
You can call it web content management, online marketing or interactive marketing but basically I'm the "web girl" for a somewhat random collection of companies (who I fondly refer to as my clients). This makes me self-employed, which means no paid vacation. It also means I get to work from home or anywhere with an Internet connection. I do most of my work from an iMac with a humongous screen, and some on an HP laptop. I spend a lot of time on myspace and Facebook and I check my email constantly. I also text a ton and am on call basically 7 days a week, 14 hours a day. All of my clients are somehow connected to the Christian music industry ... I love music and I love God and I am passionate about combining the two. I hope I will always be fortunate enough to earn a living doing something related to music.
How I Got Here
Back in 1990 (yes we have to start back there), I saw a music video by a new Christian group called dc talk. The video was for the song "Heavenbound" and I was hooked. I promptly purchased DC TALK and Nu Thang on cassette and wore them out. In 1992 I got Free at Last the day it came out - on CD. I joined the Vibe Tribe and used my pass to go backstage during the Free At Last tour in Atlanta and Chattanooga. I got to college in 1994 and began working part-time on campus in the computer lab. I learned how to make a web page and decided to make one for dc talk. Soon after, I connected with a few other creators of dc talk fan sites and we joined together to create ardent-enthusiast.com - an archive of dc talk information - along with the enewsletter dc [net] talk. Soon after the release of Jesus Freak, I met some people who worked with dc talk, and then I met Toby. He liked our site.
After graduating from college and earning a degree in graphic design, I moved to Nashville for a job at a Christian music magazine. dc talk's management hired me and my web partner to do dctalk.com. That was in 1999 and lasted for about a year. In January of 2003, I was contracted again ... this time to help update taitband.com and tobymac.com.
I never set out to do what I'm doing now. I would never have even dreamed it to be an attainable goal. I just wanted to make a web site for music I liked, and meet other people who liked it too. I look back and see how God has guided me to the exact place He wants me and I am in awe. Is it a job that is always enjoyable? No. Do I make a lot of money? No. Isn't it cool working from home? Sometimes. But mostly I feel very blessed to be able to work with artists who create art that I love, with a message that I very much believe.
Who I'd like to meet: I've met some really cool people - in Nashville and online - but I'm always open to meeting more. I especially like meeting people whose interests intersect with mine, and who go out of their way to be nice.

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. Psalm 145: 18-19

Oh nice the UPS guy just drove past my house and he was supposed to stop here. I swear they hate me. Day 3 of trying to deliver my husband's "repaired" Xbox 360 that had some red ring of death? No clue. Should've bought the Wii. Better go try to flag them down LOL.
