John David Webster, Matt Mellinger, and Kyle McCord met more than ten years ago in their hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. From the beginning their collective dream has been to blend their individual talents into a world class band. “It’s been a life journey that started with a love for music, and has culminated into what is now Webster.”- Kyle.
Since 2000, John David has established himself as one of the premier performers in the CCM industry with his two national top ten hits “Miracle” and “Now”. With a passion to reach a new audience, he has partnered with Matt and Kyle to form one of the hottest sounding bands of 2009. “My heart hasn’t changed but my direction has,” John David explains. Webster’s aptly titled new release Heart of Me is the reflection of his new direction. “I wanted everyone to be able to hear the music, and really get into what was inside of my heart”.
Webster has made a name for himself working with today’s elite musicians such as: Vinnie Caliutta of Sting, Jerry Mcpherson of Faith Hill, Michael Landau of Seal, Chris Rodriguez of Keith Urban. Webster’s songs have been featured on major network television shows and radio stations worldwide.
Heart of Me
The opening track “Everytime” explodes with a huge wall of guitars, a radiant chorus, powerful harmonies, and a piercing falsetto. Webster creates a musical landscape perfectly suited for today’s top 40 radio, major motion pictures, and premier live venues. “We worked really hard to create a sound that was undeniable; I think it pushed us harder than anything we’ve ever done.”- Matt. The third track “Tear Us Apart” delivers sincere emotion in Webster’s lyrics “I will fight every enemy, ‘cause I believe, in my heart, they’ll never tear us apart”. The most passionate song on Webster’s new release is the innovative title track “Heart of Me”. You can literally feel the sub-sonic pulse of the band’s heartbeat setting the tempo for a seventy piece orchestra. The song builds into an epic moment of honesty as John David cries “I’m trying to let go, harder than you know, to give you the heart of me”. Webster weaves dynamic vocals, music and lyrics into an authentic, inspiring recording that will leave listeners wanting more.
The Band
John David Webster is an outstanding producer, songwriter, musician, and performer. His musical genius shines through instrumentally while finding his home at the piano and microphone. Webster’s wide-ranging vocals are second to none. Although he has a style all his own, his live performance is exceptional and in the spirit of Bono and Steven Tyler. Guitarist Kyle McCord is a true aficionado drawing from the likes of Slash and Joe Perry. As a live performer Kyle lights up the stage with his showmanship and vibrant personality. He will reel you in then rock you out. Matt Mellinger is a phenomenal drummer and world class production engineer. His playing captures the feel of drummers such as Josh Freese and Travis Barker. Matt’s contagious energy and stage presence is electric, while his high harmonies soar into the stratosphere.
