Writing songs, playing guitar, bass, keyboards and producing the afore-mentioned songs here at my home-studio here in Treasure Beach, St. Augustine, Florida. I also enjoy gardening, world travel, my lil' dog, Stella, sports, and look forward to the day George W. Bush leaves office, thusly freeing us from 8 years of dumbest administration we've ever had.
Music
I love hard jazz, of the bebop variety, blues, both acoustic and 'lectric, funk, ala Prince or James Brown, reggae, nobody'll ever top Bob Marley, a lil' country, the real-deal, not the parade of beauty-pageant contestants that seem to be endlessly passing through Nashville, and of course, I loves my Rock 'n' Roll, I guess I'd hafta, seeing as I've been playing it for over forty years!
Movies
"Being There" (Peter Sellers's last film), "King Rat", "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou", "Forrest Gump", "The Big Lebowski", "Clambake", "King Creole", "A Hard Days Night", etc, etc, etc.
Television
The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Bill Maher, NCIS, The Unit, NFL Football, NBA Basketball, NBC Evening News, CNN, turn that damn thing off!!!
Books
I'm writing one right now.
Heroes
Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Stones, Tony Bennet, Tom Waits, etc, etc, etc.
The song that should be playing when you stop by my page is a little instrumental number called "Under The Moon" that I recorded here at my home-studio, the International Headquarters for my musical-conglomerate, hence-forth and here-after to be known as WeDoggy!!! Productions!
If it's WeeDoggy, it's GOT 2 BE BAD!
Playing the piano is my musical-comrade of the last 25 years, Michael Houpt. More on Michael later in the show.
The violin is being played by legendary Polish-Gypsy violinist Stefan Kozlowski. This is just a quick rough-mix, as there are 4 tracks of violin to sort through and pick out some choice little musical nuggets, so keep yer ear to the ground for updates/re-mixes, etc. There's some cool inter-play going on during the intro and the outro, don'tcha think? I played the guitars and bass and sequenced the drums.
More to come soon!
Life-long, full-time professional musician for over 40 years, no really, for OVER 40 YEARS!!! I started while I was still hangin' out in my Mama's womb, kickin' it before I made my entrance somewhere in Miami, Florida. Moved to Chicago at age 8, where I picked-up the trombone, which I became quite serious about, y'know, there was just sumpin' cool about that slidin' into or out of a note was fun.
Moved to Lakeland, Florida at age 11, where I continued playin' the 'bone in school bands.
But then my lil' Mama brought home the first Beatles album and said, "I've heard that these boys are quite big over in England." Then I saw them on the "Ed Sullivan Show" and that was about the end of the trombone for me, y'know?
Trombonists didn't get the sorta girl reaction as the guitar or bass, so I asked for a bass for Christmas and, lo and behold, I got a bass and a decent amp, so I was in bidness! I picked it up real quick, while also learning guitar too. Me and some buddies from school put together a little band.................and it seems like I'm kinda doin' it again, puttin' together another lil' band called "The MUDBREAKERS". It's got a nice ring to it, dontcha think? More on how I arrived at the name a lil' later.
Who I'd like to meet: John Stewart, Steven Colbert, Peter Gabriel, Feist, Jimmy Page (I actually met him in 1967), Jeff Beck and a whole slew of guitar-slingers and other muzoids.
