Little Birdie, led by singer-songwriter Orit Shimoni, is an up-and-coming folk/alt-country band based in Montreal, and steadily spreading into the hearts of many, with CBC radio play across Canada, performances at Mariposa Folk Festival and Canadian Music Week, and radio and t.v. appearances.
Known for her "siren's voice and songwriting pearls" (the Montreal Mirror), Orit's lyrics are "truly profound" (the Suburban) and captivating. Backed up by Andre Kirchhoff's intense musicianship and harmonies, the band plays as a trio or four-piece when on tour. In Montreal they often perform with members of local band Lil' Buck, the front-man of which, Mark Goodwin is responsible for the "stellar production job" (Montreal Mirror) of Little Birdie's debut album, Cinematic Way, which was nominated for best country album in the GAMIQ (Quebec Independent Music Awards).
Look for the album at a store near you, and request it on your local radio station. You can also buy the record, or download individual tracks, at:
Touring only sporadically for now, the band is hoping to go full throttle by next fall, as well as commence work on the next album.
Cinematic Way is available at stores throughout Montreal including:
Archambault
L’Avant Gardisque
Marche du Disque
Music World

Hey, I like it - I like it a lot. IndieCan.com takes a week of coast-to-coast indie music life in Canada and distills it into a one hour cultural booster-juice - ah, if you like music that is. We have a live set, interviews, stories, guests and as much of the best music you've never heard that we can fit in an hour. We also cover festivals, reviews, events and other indie music stuff and our hope is it brings you as much joy as it does us. We're all ears, too so feel free to have your say. What turns you on!
Cheers,
Joe Chisholm co-host IndieCan Radio www.indiecan.com info@indiecan.com THIS WEEK: Episode 70 focuses on The Quebec City Indie Scene. Hey what's up! And all the best to you too. No, I'm no longer at Trent Radio in any paid form, But I am sitting on the board of directors there now. I'm actually workin now at the Classic Rock station in Peterborough The Wolf. Working a little A/V as well. Glad to hear your coming back to Peterborough. I'll definitly try to check it out. As far as doing something with Trent Radio, Send an e-mail to Laurel Paluck, who is the PD, and tell her you did stuff this summer with me, and I'm sure she can work something out. I'll drop her a line as well. Her e-mail is...probably shouldn't put up her e-mail on a myspace post. But you can get it off the Trent Radio website. Good to here from you and hope all is well. -Vince
